What is a crush alert?

With all the junk going into my bulk mail I have to wonder what some of them are. I know all the spams from Nigeria,etc. But I don't know what a "crush alert" is. Do you know?

That is an email from a dating service telling you that someone in their dating service has a crush on you. I have received many of these and I have never signed up for a dating service.

Aha! That is funny. I'm not in the market nor have I signed up for anything either. Delete, delete, delete.
