Is downloading songs from file sharing website ethical?

I recently found out that my son was downloading .mp3 songs from a popular file sharing website called limewire.com. What are your thoughts on whether or not this is ethical?

I don't know if it's ethical or not because so many people use it what I don't like about it is the possibility of viruses. My son and my brother both have had problems with limewire and swore never to use it again. There are other sites out there to download music that are much safer.

What if you made your living making music and selling it. How would you feel about people getting it for free?
