Violent Films

Do you really think that the world has been corrupted by violent films? Is the movie the Texas Chainsaw Massacre the reason someone was killed last week with a chainsaw. Do people get ideas because of watching horror movies, or do aspiring murderers decide not to kill because of the graphic films of today. Or do they desire to replicate such brutal things. My personal opinion is that the human race is naturally violent. Whats your opinion?

I don't think movies make people into violent criminals. I think the propensity was already there and the movies likely resonate with them because of it. Yeah perhaps the Texas Chainsaw movies inspired the guy, but I have little doubt that he would have committed a violent act anyway.

I agree with you. Books dont kill people, people kill people.

I don't think movies, music or books can make anybody kill. I know there has been a lot stories that say otherwise but I can't see how it can happen. I have been watching horror flicks since the 80's when I was really young and never once through adulthood did I ever want to commit or imitate anything I have ever seen. I think people that claim this are either truly mentally ill or they just don't want to confess to what hey did. There are some crazy people out there but the thoght the music and movies and so on can turn people int killers and all that is just ridiculious.

Remember the columbine thing where everybody blamed Marilyn Manson for his music influencing the kids

It might influence some people, but I think they're inclined to be violent anyway. I mean tons of people watch those movies without harming anyone. Of course, kids are more likely to be influenced; so you need to be in control of their exposure.
