I am used with a life that everything I wanted is possible. But, when I started to live alone and see what reality life is, I considered saving money for the future without depending on others. I am thankful to my parents and grandparents because they taught me not to be a brat though we belong to above average class. I learned to stand and decide for myself, spend on things that are necessary and essential, do the household chores and/or laundry. it was hard at first, but I adjusted easily with an environment that am not used to. Am saving money for my future, something that I cn pass on to my offspring which I can be proud of that it came from me.

Maean, that is a good thought. I really wish I could save for the future, but right now i cant because i have sooo many responsibilities that saving is just a far away dream. But if you can save an extra penny please do. I know your kids will be soo proud of you when they realise this. Living alone is a challenge but with will and strength you can do it and I see you have made it. Congratulations.

Hey, maean, that's VERY GOOD!!! And yes, your offspring WILL find that useful indeed. My Mom always says that it's easy to spend money or waste money, but it's not easy to learn to discipline yourself to use your money wisely. If kids get everything they want all the time and then in the future the parents' business goes down, they'll have BIG trouble to budget their expenses 'coz they're so used to spend money lavishly. I've seen this happening to some people and it's making them suffer. So I also believe in being frugal so that if life gives us hardship, we can still feel blessed and we won't feel "tortured" that we have to cut our expenses here and there.

It's a good thing to save money early on because we might not know the future to what lies ahead. The use of money will be accomodated to the needs of the family.

This is good - so many people right now are dependent on others, not just for money, but also for food, because they cannot cook, or other necessities which they do not know how to provide for themselves. Right now, I am not saving up for retirement because we are still climbing our way out of debt, but we will be as soon as we can afford to.

Congratz on learning on how to save. We should buy what we only want and not unnecessary stuff which we would throw them away after we are bored of it. If we do not save money and anyhow spend it, we would end up becoming bankrupt with no money left to survive. I hope that your offspring would know how to save money like you and i hope i would also pass this down to my offspring next time if i have one!

Its good to start saving for the future early, but you have to think what you really want... Sometimes i think "i should save some money in case something happen", but this is good in the right quantity, and not leaving behind all your dreams ... I mean, you dont have to miss everything you want because of the future, you know?

Good for you! Learning to be independent is crucial I think these days as we have far too many other people telling us what to do and how to do it. Saving money is sane and intelligent. You are wise doing this. sunnywaters

Congrats! You do the right things. You are brave because there are a few people who choose independent life before their parents kick them out. To say being independent is easier than really to be indepent. Living alone is not a easy. You will face house chores, felling lonely etc. It seems like that you have done a great job. Hope you have a good independent journey! By the way,I really admire your courage. I left my hometown when I was 18. That was not I want. I have no choice but leaving and learning te be independent.
