In my experience with my daughter, she didn't start dressing herself until she was about 6. I always had to help her with her zippers, buttons and snaps. Even at 6, I was still leaving her outfits for the day on her chair in her room so she would know what to wear that day, by 7 she was doing it on her own with no help at all. Be patient my dear! I think at 1, he is still far too young to be dressing on his own.

as far as i remember, my daughter learn how to dress up is about 21/2 yrs. old..she wanted to learn on her own, and now that she's almost 3 she wanted to choose dress she likes..sometimes if i'm the one who will choose for her then she don't like it, we really argue but in the end i'm the looser because i don't want her to be frustrated and don't want her to be independent on me, but i'm always there to give her assistance and guide her..

i think it really depends on the personality of the kids. there are kids who dresses up theirselves earlier and some late. i dont want my child to depend on me when the right age comes but just like you i will still be there to guide and assist.

My son loves to undress himself! He can't unbutton yet, but if it's easy stuff, like just pulling something over his head, or taking off elastic waist pants, he loves it. He can put on his own pants, too. But he usually gets them crooked. He can't do shirts completely alone yet. He's only 20 months old, though. He still has plenty of time to figure out how to dress himself.

Most kids learn to undress well before they learn to dress. My son is 22 months and can wiggle his arms out of his shirt sleeves, but that's about it. He can get his legs into his pants by himself, but can't pull them up. He doesn't seem super interested in it yet though, so that might be why. He does like to choose what he wears though (within reason). I think many kids learn to dress around the same time as potty training.

My daughter started dressing herself when she started school~ probably around 5. This is when the fighting began. She would pick out some play clothes and wanted to wear them to school. I had to give her the freedom to wear what she wanted, but we did keep play clothes and school clothes seperate. Some days she would go to school totally not matching, but you learn to pick and choose your fights and this was not that big of a deal to stress about.

yes problems like that will surely come when they know how to dress up for them selves. fighting for what they want to wear.

They will start experimenting on their own. Encourage them and buy clothes that are easy to put on and fasten.
