Electric Cars : Slow and wimpy?

Can an electric car be fast and powerful? As well as efficient? Yes! Read about it here. http://money.cnn.com/2007/10/04/autos/electric_wright.fortune/index.htm?postversion=2007100510 I believe this thing cost $98,000. When they can get something similar with a little comfort and less speed (who needs 100 + mph?) at a reasonable price, these things will sell. I think. What do you think? Is this a good idea to pursue or not?

Yes its a good idea to pursue. This along with better biofuels, hydrogen (I know its not as practical but still). Anything to get a more efficient personal transport is okay in my opinion.

Hydrogen may be practical in the future. Who knows?

I think it's a great idea but only if more people could afford it. By the time it is affordable for the average person they will probabley drop gas prices and raise electric prices through the roof.

Yes, it is possible that an electric car can be fast and powerful. I'm waiting such cars but looking at the price tag, I don't think most people will buy it. Car has a faster depreciation. I don't know why electric cars are more expensive than regular cars. We need to save our environment sooner and electric cars can be a good solution for that.

Now, that I think about it, I don't know why a simple straight forward small electric car could not be inexpensive. I have no idea why they aren't cheaper.

This is definitely a good idea and it would eventually end our dependence on oil. This would finally allow us to let OPEC know where they could stick their overpriced oil. Once this technology gets out of the development stage and becomes mainstream, the price will come down. As I saw the article mention $200,000 price tags, they are going to have to come down a bunch and it will take some time for that to happen. I didn't much care for the fact that they were talking about having a biodiesel planned as an onboard way to recharge the battery, that seems like defeating the purpose, and diesels can be a bear to start at times as well.
