Ok all ebay fans and users, I have a big question for you. I'm a stay at home mom and am trying to take every opportunity to make a little extra cash with our household. I make crafts (when i have time) and would like to sell them. Now, i've tried on ebay twice and apparently to get a gallery photo you have to pay $20????!!! am i missing something. please know that i'm not that internet savvy either. with a little one i don't get much time to explore my options. anyone know of ebay tips? or better yet, you crafters out there do you know of a good reputable internet site that's been successful for you? thank you so much!

Well I am thinking that you must mean a featured auction style picture - I know those are very expensive which is why I have never used them - I just stick with a few in the auction and then one on the search pages. As for crafts I don't know - I haven't sold anything like that on ebay - but I would think that if they are really neat - you should tell a story within your auction - make it funny or cool - those tend to make people more interested in buying homemade goods!! At least that is what I have noticed. I don't have anything on ebay right now - been a lil bit lazy there - but will probably jump back in sometime soon!!! Good luck with your crafts - if I come across any sites that would help you - I will be sure to let you know about them!!!

Hello there. From what I know, ebay.com which is mainly for United States requires additional fees if you are going to sell something there.. For pictures, you can always opt in not to add more than 1 picture. More than 1 picture means you have to pay additional fees or something.. I suggest that if not in ebay, try craiglist. www.craiglist.com is a free place to post what you are selling.. but you just have to be careful because there are also lots of scammers in ebay , craiglist and other auction sites which may cost you some money. Keep safe and goodluck with your crafts. :)

I'm an ebay seller. - sellling on ebay
I've been selling on ebay for years so if you ever have a question you can certainly ask. Photo's are free and they charge .15 for each additional one you add to your auction. I don't know where you saw $20! The whole auction doesn't cost $20. You might also try the ioffer and epier auction sites. They are fairly new but I'm doing better on those than on ebay and they are free. They aren't like ebay where people bid on items usually. I guess that's because they are so new and not a lot of people know about them. I've purchased a few things at unbelievable low prices on both sites. One word about ebay...you seldom get what your item is worth because ebayers want to pay the least the can for everything. Good luck!

Yo're welcome and like I said any questions or help you might need regarding ebay I would be happy to help you with. I've just about stopped mailing items using priority mail because it's become so expensive. I try to send first class as often as I can.

Hi! thanks so much for your comment. It didn't take me terribly long to figure out that items don't get their worth on ebay. for me it's the concept of paying shipping unless the shipping combined with price of item beats what's out there on the market. I could have sworn that a main gallery pic was $19.99 but when I think of this, most auctions don't get near that price. I'll have to look again. Thank you for the suggestion of ioffer and epier. i'll look into them. take care :)

I second www.etsy.com It's a sales site that is specifically for selling crafts and homemade items. So people that visit the site are more likely to be your target audience, and willing to purchase your product. I'm not sure of the cost involved though. I've heard from some people that they got more money for their crafts on etsy than ebay. They said ebay had too many bargain hunters that weren't willing to pay a worthwhile price for their crafts.

No you don't have to pay $20. You can add one photo for free and then they charge you for each photo. I can't remember how much but it was 15 cents for each extra when I was doing it.
