I am underemployed at the moment and have being for about 5 months. It's really beginning to get to me. I had to use some of my savings August, September, and It's beginning to look like the same this month. I thought if I work my part time job full time until I find something I might be okay. I work over 45 hours and still cannot make enough to pay my bills. I attended a job fair Monday for a temp position. I was told yes I will send you some paper work and then refer you to the employer now I called and the recruiter states they are going with another candidate. I am selling on Ebay and doing other stuff, but still struggling. I am just frustrated today for some reason. Oh, well thanks for letting me vent.

I am going to be honest. I wish I had someone to at least pay some of the bills. It's hard being single.

I believe that, but if I would not live here I am able to take care of myself.

It must get to you after a while, but don't let those feelings last. Keep thinking positive. I was unemployed right after I finished my degree...for about 9 months, and then instead of waiting for a job that matched my qualifications, I went with a much lesser job and stayed with it for about 9 months and then I got a great job, which I have had since then, though I left it to go study for a while. Hang in there. Keep the faith. Pray and believe and you will receive a good job in due time. In the meantime just enjoy your free time, and do all the things you wouldn't be able to do (that don't cost money) if you were employed full time. This time will pass much faster if you spend it that way. Be blessed!

You know, I think that's the problem I am not doing the thing I enjoy so that is what is causing the frustration. I will start doing that.

I got pass out from my graduation (B.E.) in june this year and was unemployed till september. I know how hard time it was for me. I am now placed in one of the best software firm round the globe its ACCENTURE. But still the days when i was unemployed had tought me great deal of things. How people look at you.The questions one need to face almost daily. It sucks sometime. Well out of my experiences i can say dont get frustated or you will loose your confidence. Just try from your side something worth you might be waiting for right time. Best of luck.

Since my first job, I think the longest time I didnt had a job was 1 year. But I was going to school at the same time and I was living at my mom house. But After finish school, I didnt work for 2month and thse 2 month were kinda hard. I was so happy when I got my first pay.

Well, I guess the key is to do something besides sitting back and dwelling on the situation you are in. I think your being in school help you a lot. I am thinking about going to school, but I am trying to figure out the financial part of it now.

I would have to say around 1998-1999, when I first moved back to Alabama from Delaware, I was out of work for about nine months and it was frustrating as all get out. For one, I was in the middle of a divorce, and needed work and it seemed nothing was working my way. And with the exception of a few days here and there, I was without a job for all but three months of 1999, then I got a job with Morrison's working at the now defunct Albert P.Brewer Center (so named after one of Alabama's governors) serving food to the mentally challenged adults there. One of our friend's son was a client there. I stayed there until they closed it down in February of 2001. Matter of fact, they were shutting it down, and they were leaving our checks with the guards who were there. Then I got unemployment for six months until I got another job at a warehouse. But Venshida, I can understand your frustration at things. But at least, you are doing things to generate income for yourself, so that is good. Keep your head up and I wish you the best.

You are right about the age thing. I think companies tend to discriminate when you are older. I do believe in the power of prayer so I no I will make it.

whatever you do don't give up. Something will come along for you. I was in the same boat but I was lucky to land two jobs off the wahm.com website. It also allows me to be at home with my kids.

I've spent a few periods of time unemployed and it is soul destroying when you spend so much time job hunting. The worst has been almost three years, and at my age I stand little chance of getting another job as most employers prefer to take on younger staff
