What do we mean by ROCK?

Hi Guys,
I am confused with this new word that has set the trend --Rock--.
I mean,a people said to me 'Man you Rock', I was shocked,am I a stone?Ha Ha,Just a joke.
Is there any brief or specific description you can give about the word 'Rock'.Please Tell.

I suppose the word "Rock" comes from rock n' roll. See those singers performing rock n' roll simply means they are cool and trendy.
