Some of you already know about this but it needs to be shared with alot more people.
My oldest daughter likes to download ringtones and ringback tones, which normally is no big deal because she pays for them. My younger daught called me awhile back and asked me if she could download some songs from a website her stepmom told her was free. I told her no because I had just seen something on the news about those kind of sites, sending people text messages and charging people for them on top of what their cell carries charge them for texting. Well apparently My oldest didn't get the message and listen to her stepmom. So last month we had a charge on our bill for $9.99 from Verisign for a Jamster membership. So we called and got that cancelled and informed my daughter to not do that again, no matter who tells her it wae free.
Matter closed right? Wrong! Today I open our cell bill and on my oldest daughter's bill is a charge $19.99 from m-Qube Inc. for get this mobile messaging. So my daughter and I go a few rounds about what it was for. Poor thing she was almost in tears. When I got home I looked up this m-Qube company. They are part of Verisign. I figure out this charge is due to the Jamster membership that was canceled at the beginning of September. And then another light went on. Why is her phone being charged for mobile messaging? We have unlimited messaging on all 4 of our phones.
I called this m-Qube and demanded to talk to a supervisor. I tell them there is an unathorized charge on my daughter's phone. The lady tells me they have to send me an email to verify my complaint and then they will send me refund forms in a few days. Then if they think I have a good complaint they will refund the charge. Oh I am fuming. Justin calls our cell company and tells them about all of this including last months issue. The guy looked up her phone history and guess what she DIDN'T do anything. This company just deecided to charge her phone. So now our cell company is going to get the charges reversed for both charges.
So for now there will be no more downloading of songs. We had to put complete blocks on our phones to ensure no future unwanted charges. Here is the kicker there is a class action suit against this company for? Can anyone guess?
Watch your cell bills closely!

That is so sad that people will try to rip you off any way they can.

Well done for warning everyone sweety! Your poor eldest - it is horrible when they get conflicting messages (maybe you should have a word with her stepmom - if you can stay calm - I wouldn't blame you if you couldn't) and then to have a charge again when she hadn't done anything!
I know there arfe different problems between here in the uk and there in the states but I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, I got a new phone and they are supposed to isolate any number for at least 6 months before reassigning it but in my case it had only been isolated for 2 months when I got it and whoever had the number before was into this type of messaging! I just ignored the messages til I got my first bill and discovered I was being charged $1.50 per text I received and they were being sent from 2 different companues! My mobile company gave me the details and it took a lot of time and patience but I eventually got them to stop and to refund my money - I was also told if for any reason you start to receive these messages you should reply STOP ALL and that should stop any more from being sent as it is unsubscribing.
Miss you sweety - hope to catch up soon xxxx

Thanks for the info, this is why I refuse to download anything to my phone, you just can't trust these companies anymore. I can just imagine how many other people they have done this to.

Usually she gets all her songs and ringbacks from our cell company. But unfortunately this one time....... Poor kid
I would think a company like Verisign would have a little better bussiness ethnics. I mean I easily traced the charge back to them. I'm with you no downloading thats why we put a block on all the phones.
I was reading on a website today the charged someone $275 for a one time fee. That's crazy!
