Back problems

I never thought I would have problems arise at age 32. I have been suffering with back pain. Ok, after months of pain meds and just being told it's back pain I finally have an xray that indicates I have Degenerative Disk Disease. Then get told I may have to have surgery. Come on already! It is bad enough I can't walk well and I am on too many pills let alone the fact if I have surgery then I will end up on more pills. I finally went to my chiropractor and he said that if I had to have surgery it would be for a bulging disk. I trust him but I still don't want my back cut on. This is scary and it seems as if this household has not had a break from stress. Any ideas?

You may want to try an alternative relief like the Biomagnetic bracelet. I have this biomagnetic bracelet which a friend gave to me and it relieved me of my back pain. Sitting for long hours in front of the computer can really give you a back pain and headache as well. There is a study at www.BMJ.com (British Medical Journal) entitled "Randomised controlled trial of magnetic bracelets for relieving pain in osteoarthritis of the hip and knee." As to where to find these magnetic bracelets I suggest for you to check out this site www.amegaglobal.com. Hope this helps.

according to me you should consult a doctor who is a specialist. But what i suggest is to go to india. There is a state with the name kerala in the southern parts of india. There is some treatments known as ayurveda ( i think you heard about this) just search in the internet for ayurveda and it was found that ayurveda is a good remedy for such problems. even if it is not cured completely it can give relief up to 80%. Another way is to try yoga, its also from india. Now a days there are a lots of yoga centers in abroad also. I think you are from USA, if so there are a number of institutes where yoga are practicing. Check it out !

You should first avoid taking medicines, I mean tablets. Make a brisk walk (it should become your routine) for 3 km a day, preferably early morning. In the evening, lie on a mat, flat chest, your face facing the mat, slowly raise your leg and with your hands catch the toes. In the beginning you may just touch and the pain is too much. Try next day, you will be able to touch for a few seconds. In a week's time you will be able to hold the toes in your hand. Hold it for a few seconds, do this for 10 or 15 times a day regularly. Even if your backpaid disappears, do not stop this. You will teach this to others who have back pain. It will not longer come near you.

I have Degenerative Disc Disease also, but before they finally figured out what it was the specialist wanted to do exploratory surgery to find out what was wrong. He said their was a 60% chance that my problems would improve. I refused to have the surgery, and later found out that it would have done no good anyway. Degenerative Disc Disease is a form of arthritis that causes the discs in your spine to narrow allowing the bones to rub together. It is a chronic condition that deteriorates as time goes on. As far as I know there is no treatment other than the pain medications. I would say that you need to get as many opinions as you can from medical professionals and have them explain to you just exactly what degenerative disc disease is. For some reason I had a very hard time trying to get accurate information, and I am not sure why, but sometimes it seems as if there are certain things the doctors don't like to talk about. Whether or not you let them cut on you is your choice to make. If they do it can make your problems worse. You need to get the facts from the professionals and make an informed decision yourself. I wish you luck.

Destiny, I completely agree with you on the doctor thing. Mine was moreless making it sound as if I would never walk again. Anyhow, I had a long talk with my back doc and hopefully I have just the MRI. I have already been told I am going to be on pain meds for awhile. My back is so bad anymore I can't sit for long, walk up or down stairs, nor can I sleep well. I do exercise with my daughter and do stretches. We walk but afterwards it hurts more. And yes, there is nothing to be done for the degeneration. Thank you for the info friends. Di

I've noticed the same thing. I've had alot more back problems in the last few years since I'm getting older. I guess it's to be expected as we age...it still sucks though. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I am 32 and have Degenerative Disk Disease also. I think maybe you spend most of your time sitting in the office like me. I come from China, and I take a 20-day's naprapathy from a herbalist doctor, and then I buy a lumbar physical therapy instrument. Everyday, I sleep on the pillow-like instrument, and now I doesn't hurt any more. On the other hand, it is helpful to spend more time outside to do some favourite sports. A surgery should not be the first choice, the successful odds of which is not so good. Good luck.
