pumpkin seeds

Do you carve pumpkin's every year for halloween, do you like to cook and eat the pumpkin seeds? I think thats one of the best parts

hi usmcsgtwife, Yes we carve pumpkins for Halloween. I like to soak the pumpkin seeds in a brine overnight, and toast them in the oven the next day. These make very tasty snacks. They are very healthy too. Before and after Halloween, I will make pumpkin pies and cookies. Pumpkin bread is good too. But the seeds always get toasted for my personal snack. Happy posting..

yes I agree they are healthy. I love pumpkin pie and I have even made pumpkin dip before

Nope we don't carve pumpkins, kids usually come around and smash them, and I don't want to have to clean that up :(.

yeah I know what you mean, usally we keep them in out window and then will put them out during trick or treat hours and then will bring them into the house afterwards

Here in India, halloween is not quite popular, but pumpkins are used during the festival of DASARA. People put coins inside pumpkin, put some flowers and drop it on the floor in order to brush away the evil spirit during dusara festival. Otherwise pumpkins are used to make SAMBAR, a liquid dish for rice, sweets like PETA and HALWA are made out of pumpkin.

I do agree with you. I love the pumpkin seeds too. Do you bake them in the oven? I still have to get a pumpkin yet.LOL

Ahhh roastede salted pumpkin seeds. have you ever roasted them over an open fire? I use a burger basket to do this ever so often. That's the best treat ever. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
