Okay, I hate to admit this but I will... I am tall but have gained about 50 pounds. I carry it well although I am the heaviest I have been in my entire life. I weigh 218 pounds which is heavy for me as I normally weigh about 180. My photo is really me at 226 pounds actually so I just lost about 12 pounds but as you can see, I do not look very obese although I would be considered obese. I just checked my blood pressure yesterday and it was 146/100 which is hypertension. I know it is stress related but now I do not know what to do about it and my weight. Even knowing that my blood pressure is high makes me stressed out! :) I do not eat much salt but when I do, I eat McDonald's fries and I know I can quit those because it is not very often. But I need to watch my sugar intake because I love chocolate. I went to the doctor for the high blood pressure and they gave me a water pill to start with. So please someone tell me how I should get started.

i think the best for you would be if you can start exercise.I think it is the most important if you want to loose some weight.i am sure it would be hard for you at the begining if you are not used to it, but you have to start to do a little bit and then add every week more and more to it.

hello there modomains, well I guess what should you do to have a healthy body is first to practice eating a balanced diet and by having a regular exercise. Having a regular exercise will help your body to have a proper blood circulation plus it would also help you lose weight. And i would just like to mention that don't depend on diet pills and stuffs like that cause some of these things really doesn't work and in return you would only experience side effects from the pills or worse you might get even fatter from this.

Hey there! Thanks and I do agree. I am not much of a pill taker. I have started taken a natural vitamin pack from the health food store and have started drinking more water. I am going to start today walking at least 10 minutes. ANd I am also going to stop and "smell the roses" meaning that I am going to take time out for myself to take care of myself and re-learn to appreciate my body, God's temple.

Is there any relation between your weight gain and your blood pressure? What about the glucose and cholestrol level? Are they within limits? In my opinion, perhaps it is best to start on your diet. Cutting down fries is a good idea to start with, followed by fried or oily stuffs. Dark chocolates have been said to be good for health, so perhaps you might want to switch to eating dark chocolates instead in modereation. It might be a displeasure to the palate, but bland boiled food are good to reduce the 4 roots to illness. Perhaps walking (10 mins a day as a start) might also do good to increase the metabolic rate if you are not one to go for exercises.

Try to increase physical activity bit by bit. Take a small walk every other day. When you reach your limit, rest a bit and return home. The next time you walk try to beat that distance. When you get to walking like that, try jogging and repeat the same steps. You can also increase physical activity in other areas. Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalators. Naturally you do this in reasonable conditions. I do not recommend instantly climbing the stairs if you work on the 28th floor. You can eventually try it, but its quite a hike and you'll have to devote some time to it. Increase your vitamin and mineral intake, especially the B complex, Vitamin C, D, E and minerals potassium, calcium, magnesium. This will boost your blood flow, nervous system and your bone health. That way your body will have the increased flow and nervous system function for physical activity; additionally resistance for muscular and skeletal structure is increased with a prolonged diet of this nature.

Thanks for the advice about the physical activity. I should have mentioned that I was once very, very athletic and that changed in the last few years. In some ways, I feel as if I should be where I was a long time ago and that would have been much more than walking. But I will go for a walk today and start with 10 minutes so that I can change into this new habit. I am also older now and I know that my body is not going to handle stress, poor eating and other problems the way it used to.

WoW! I researched Adnan Sami and his story is very similar. My doctors tell me that my high blood pressure, and I am in my 30's, could cause me to have a stroke, diabetes, kidney failure, or heart attack. I appreciate your response and Adnan's story is encouraging.
