Do any of your cats sound off their feet when they walk?

Majzhai does, especially when he wants to call my attention. It's really quite queer for a cat to be walking with 'clanking claws,' but really, that's just how it is with Majzh. I know he does it on purpose because there are days when you can barely notice him coming. He'll just come right at you and surprise you. But there are times, just like a few minutes ago, he was 'singing' and walking with his "tick, tick, tick" steps while he was on his way to drinking his water. After he finished drinking, I checked on his cup and well, true enough, I got his message: "Water refill, puhleez..."

One of our cats sounds like that. You can also hear her claws hooking the carpet when she walks. When I hear her walking, I check and clip her claws. This way she doesn't hook everything while walking or trying to jump. If you ever consider clipping your cat's claws, make sure you only clip the white part. If you look hard you can see some pink in there. That is the part that will bleed and has nerves in it. AVOID that part! I use regular nail clippers, but there are cat claw clippers sold in the stores, too.

reading through your comment, the part where you mentioned about bleeding, made me cringe. it's like i can feel the pain that my cat will feel when i clip the wrong part of his claws! i've had many cats but i've never de-clawed even one of them. thanks for your response, highreed1! :)

I am manicly against de-clawing. I just hate to think of my kitties being without some kind of defense. Clipping kitty nails is like your own nails. If you hit the 'quick', you'll bleed and hurt. You just have to be careful when you do your cat.

Hi, and no, never heard any of my cats walking and hearing the noice of their nails on the floor...strange as they have the cushions so that they walk softly and do not damage the sharpness of their nails, which asre needed for climbing and hunting, but your cat might be of a weird kind :) TheFortunes

Lol! Looks like my Majzh isn't really so weird. Take a look at HighReed1's response... it's kinda similar to my story with my cat. thanks for your comment, thefortunes. really appreciate it. :)
