For those of you who have known me for a while, you might be aware that ever since I joined mylot, my avatar has been Hanajima Saki from Fruits Basket. Originally it was just one picture, and then an animated .gif with three pictures. But always Hanajima. Today I was in a weird mood, and so I changed my avatar. It reflects my current obsession with the anime Naruto, and my even larger obsession with the character of Umino Iruka from that show, better known as Iruka-sensei. Why do I never get obsessed with main characters???? Anyway, for those who might be worried, I'm sure Hanajima will come out again soon. I really do like her, and I like what she represents for me. But I was in a different mood today. Do you change your avatar or leave it the same always? Does it have a lot of meaning for you? Did you like Hanajima better, for those who know me?

This was the first thing I noticed when I logged on. It was one the discussion page and I thought hmm, someone has an animated avatar like lecanis. Oh wait. It is lecanis. I think they are equally cool and you can always change it. Mine is just a kind of popular photo that I think is the best picture I have ever seen. For some weird reason.

Haha, that's pretty funny!! =P I had actually wondered about your avatar before. I almost have to look at the bigger version to see what's really going on there! So I wasn't sure what it was supposed to be until I finally got around to just going and looking at it on your profile page.

Sayonara Hanajima Saki!.I will miss you.Konnichiwa Iruka-sensei.It took me a while to learn how to change my avatar. So when I learned how , there was only one symbol I wanted, the treble clef.I have loved playing music since I was little. It took a short time to find the right one. And now that I have it, I'll never change it.

Hehe! Awww, I hope you don't miss her too much, and learn to like Iruka-sensei. I'm thinking I might keep him around for a little while at least. =) I learned how to do mine right away, and right away I chose Hanajima, but I feel like 10 months is long enough to have the same avatar character without a break! I think the treble clef is a very distinctive avatar. I haven't seen anyone else using such a thing, and I always know it's you. I'm not that creative, me and my anime characters... lol.

Hmmm... I should say I was getting used to your previous avatar. I have changed my avatar four times now and I still will change it whenever I am in the mood for it. I usually uploaded pictures that I admire a lot. I get a lot of art work in my email sometimes and I love to share them with others. That's what my avatar's are mostly. Even though I am not aware of the characters in your avatar, I do think that Hanajima did look a lot like you in the picture of your family you have uploaded on mylot. Even then, it is refreshing to see new pictures on mylot now and then, isn't it?

I think it's neat that some people change theirs often and other people not at all. It's just another way in which there is a lot of variety among the users on mylot. I actually really thought I was never, ever going to change mine. I really like Hanajima, and you're right, many people had pointed out that I really look like her. However, I just got a little tired of having the same picture, and I'm really into the Iruka character, and was randomly searching for pictures of him and decided to make him my new avatar. It is refreshing to see new pictures now and then, though I'm sure Hana-chan will come back eventually! =P

You're reminding of myself , I hadn't pay attention to my AVATAR , actionaly I have none , I tried to find me one , but still don't get an IDEA , it must represnt something of the writers soul and what should it be ???? I don't know but I will , it's a matter of time and a PIC will be hanged on my PROFILE. Thanks for reminding me.

Haha, good luck finding an avatar for yourself!!! That's actually one of the first things I do on a site, but since mine are always anime characters it's a little easier. That, and I'll usually use the same one everywhere for a while. The character that used to be in my avatar here is still on all my other sites! It would be harder to come up with something to represent "the writer's soul". For me, I choose anime characters because I really like anime, but also I choose characters who have some trait that I really admire or want to emulate. =)

I did notice your change of Avatar and wondered why...so now I know. It took a moment to connect that the Avatar was you because I was so used to seeing the other one...but this one works too. I am curious how you get yours to keep the animation when you are positing to other sites. My owl flies around my site..but does not when I respond. Just curious...anything you could suggest would be appreciated. I haven't changed my owl yet because I really like her and what she represents. If I did it would only be a different owl. Owls are my main power totem animal and provide much needed wisdom and perspective for my writing. Cheers, Raia

I'm glad you like this one too! I'm really fond of this character, though I'm sure he'll take people a while to get used to! I always have problems getting the animation to work as well, but the solution is just resizing your avatar until it works. A .gif has to be 60x60 in order to work on mylot in discussions, as far as I can tell. You can resize it with a .gif animation program, or if you don't have one, you can use a free website that does it called gif works. It's just www.gifworks.com, and you just use the free tools there to resize your .gif. That's how I did mine anyway. I used to have a gif animation program, but I lost it when my computer went nuts, so I just did it online at gif works this time. I had thought about using one of my totem animals, or something religious as my avatar, but... for some reason anime characters as avatars just works for me. They're always ones I feel really strongly about because of character traits they have, so I guess it's kind of my way of being both serious and fun at the same time. =P

i like this one my friend, its really cool.either one of them were really neat.i am getting to know alot about animae because of my niece and nephew.she watches naruto 24/7 and has all the magazines.she is really into alot and she draws them so well for 11 years old,i will have to get some of her drawings for you to see.my nephew belongs to a animae club at school, this is really hot here.they are both being characters from naruto for halloween.my niece is being hanajima saki and my nephew is being iruka sensei, those seem to be the popular ones i guess.its funny because there one guy i always calling him catman because thats what he reminds me of.i change mine as often as i can.matter of fact i will be changing mine later on today.take care.pattie

Oh, you will have to show me some of her drawings, I would love that! =) Eh, Hanajima isn't from Naruto, she's from Fruits Basket. If it's from Naruto, maybe she's Haruno Sakura? Iruka-sensei does also seem to be very popular, which I was surprised about. I thought that him being my favorite character made me weird since he's not as "elite" or "exciting" as many of the other characters, but I guess there are a lot of Iruka fans. Hehe, anime wasn't really that popular when I was younger, but I got into it when I was 18 or so. I always wonder what my kid is going to think about anime, growing up with me and my husband watching it all the time!

I usually don't change things like that very often because I give them a lot of thought when I pick them out in the first place. My choices have a lot to do with what the picture or characters means to me. But even I get tired after looking at the same picture for many months, even one I like. =P

I like it lecanis! It was odd to see a different avatar as I got so used to the other one...as for me changing my avatar?? Don't think so...I've had my avatar and and used it everywhere for the past four years...I can't imagine anything else...and I think I would totally confuse people if I did change it--so many identify me as that black cat gal...Heheh

It is odd to see a different avatar when someone changes their after a long time! I was a little worried no one would recognize and respond to me. =P I hadn't used the Hanajima one before mylot, but before that I had one avatar I used for several years, that came from yet another anime. Me and my anime. I switched to the Hanajima one actually because I had changed a lot since choosing the one before that, and it just no longer seemed to fit. I'm not sure why I changed this time... just felt like it was time, but likely the old one will come back.

I noticed you switched it tonight, and ironically, it was before Naruto came on tonight. I like Iruka and I find myself drawn to the characters that aren't the main ones, like Shikamaru and Choji. I like most of them, but I have a soft spot for both of them.

Iruka is my favorite I think, but Shikamaru would be a close second. He's so awesome! Actually, there are way too many awesome characters there, and every time I go back and watch parts of the anime over (or right now I've just started reading the manga) I'll start realizing how well developed so many of the characters are. It's an anime that makes it easy to like lots of characters, because they do all have their own stories and personalities. =)

It's cool I recognize your name also or I wouldn't have known it was you. My sister is into a lot of anime and tells me about the shows. My boys watch some too but it is a little over my head. Can't seem to sit long enough to get to learn all about it. It is amazing in art as well as story line. I like this avatar too. Makes my think of my sister. I have changed my picture once because I changed my hair color. If I change it again I will probably change my pic.

*smiles* I know a lot of people who feel that way about anime. I kind of got immersed in it, suddenly moving in with people who watched it all the time, about 9 years ago or so now. So I got to learn about it, and now I'm a bigger fan than most of them! =P I'm glad you like my new avatar too! I think I might keep him around for a while, unless I find I'm not getting any responses because people don't recognize me by name, just by avatar. lol

I don't know. I might just make it an avatar off an anime and see who in the world actually knows what the picture is. If not, then I have no qualms keeping my current one.

Haha, that could be a fun game actually... see who can guess!? I really thought I would like this new avatar, but the animation isn't working, so it's annoying me already. I'm trying to fix it.

Hmm, I haven't heard of that anime, I'll have to check it out! (Adds to long list of anime to check out.) You have a good point about not recognizing people when they change their avatar. That's part of why I kept mine the same for so long, and I'll probably go back to Hanajima eventually. I'm just on a Naruto kick right now, and Iruka is my favorite character from Naruto. Fruits Basket is still my favorite anime ever! =P

Ooo I like your new avatar too! I tend to like sci-fi as well! =) You're not alone in knowing nothing of anime. Though it's become somewhat more popular over the past few years with more of it coming on tv, even now it's kind of an obscure thing in a lot of ways. I just happened to fall into a group of people who were really into it about 9 years ago now, and become an addict.
