To be financially literate, all you have to know and understand is what you want for yourself and how you will match your financial resources to meet your future wants.
The keys are;
-anticipate your future needs
-plan to have the resources to meet your needs
-understand how you can adjust your needs against the reality of your available resources

I agree with your viewpoint that we have to anticipate our future needs, plan to have the resource to meet our demands, and understand the adjustment to our demands against the reality of the resource available. Based on the theory of yours, I think that I am financially literate.
