Okay this is the time of year i truely hate. Here's a photo of my rasberry bushes. After all the work to get some great berries for a bowl or to top off my bowl of cereal I have to cut them down. Ugghh!! But it's for a bigger crop next year. The fall pruning has begun in my yard this afternoon/evening. Yeah it is an ugly photo. This is just part of them. More to prune off. HAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

That's something I wanted to accomplish today but just couldn't drag myself outta bed. Gotta get to the dr. to find out why I'm so tired all the time lately. I have a ton of raspberry and blackberry bushes to prune where they grow all along the property line. These are all wild so have some nice-size thorns on them. It's kinda sad to be doing all the cleaning up cause then it really means winter is just round the corner.

lol Thanks for the BR, Grandpa Bob. Just to let you know, those Red Raspberry bushes I bought this past spring are still sitting there in the ground doing nothing. Actually, I think the deer browsed 2 of them to the ground. Hope they start branching/leafing out next spring.

Oh I know what you mean, I have red raspberry, black raspberry and blackberry bushes, (blackberry are the worse, attack you for no reason, lol), but most of mine fit into the composter. But it is so worth it, my son enjoys them and loves my berry muffins..:)

GP Bob, I admire your great work and most of all patience :) but you seem to love doing it, so do not complain :) As a field working guy busy with his plants each year you know exactly how happy you'll be next year again :) TheFortunes

that is a great blog there! love how you have to work to get a bowl of berries. hey if it is natural and free of charge then it is worth the work. great work by the way and enjoy the berries.

My thinking to it of how to make a secondary product from it to make money...LOL...rather than burn it or as a take away gifts for dump truck!!!.

It looks like the Capparis kind of bush. In my grandmother's garden, there are sometimes Capparis with spikes, deep long roots... It looks like your raspberry bush has spikes too. Do you use gloves to cut the branches ? Do you have anyone that can help you from around the area ? Can you please post a photo of the fruit itself ?
