Is it appropriate for me to wear all black to a wedding?

I think that in this day and age, it is ok to wear black to a wedding. In fact, they make wedding gowns that are black. But, if you have any doubts and are close to the bride and/or groom, maybe you would want to ask them if they would be offended.

For me it's not appropriate, better wear white or other colors that would show a celebrating mood. Wearing black might send a negative message.
