Television shows

Why does the networks take off television shows that have good ratings and a good percent of viewers watching? Even if some of the shows do not have high percent of viewers, why take it off the air when they put another show on in place of the one you liked and it does not even last as long as the one you were watching.

Sometimes someone is able to complain enough, gripe enough and the networks will cave. Its happened before. Other times a new season or an event may coincide with something that happened in real life (usually some terrible event).
