Are You In Control Of Your Life?

Lately a lot of my friends I have been talking to seem to be falling on hard times. I mean these guys always had everything and now a few of them have barely anything left due to hard times ie lost job and so on. So this got me thinking are we really in control of our lives or just the direction they are heading in? I know sometimes I feel like I'm in complete control but then something happens and boom everything feels out of control. Does anyone else ever feel like that? What do you do when times get tough?

I think it can be either way. Things happen in our lives that we cannot control, but there are things you can be in control in. For example: I am in college and I want to be a teacher. I have control over whether I go to class or do my homework and things like that. But do I have control over everything? No. That's why you need to do whatever you can to make your dreams work for you.

In my line of work I see people losing their jobs and their lifestyles due to foriegn trade. We have had 4 companies shut down with at least 50 people alot of times alot more lose their jobs through no control of their own. Alot of these folks have been in their jobs for 20-30 years and have had significant wage increase over the years. Now they have to go into an entry level position. Through seeing these people, one of my goals has become to be debt free in the next 5 years. I want to be able to live like I am earning minimum wage. Crazy as it sounds, it is a scary thought. I agree with dopey on the notion that somethings we don't have control over, but we can also learn valuable lessons from seeing what others go through. So I guess I would say the choices we make today may affect the decisions we have to make tommorro if something happens that we can control, like job loss.

Sometimes i think my paycheck just passby for a day and after paying all the bills, not left for any luxury anymore. Times surely is getting tough, used to be money would come by easy and last longer, now after getting the paycheck, bills still comes in and you have to get it from your saving to pay the extras and most of the time its really hard to save, since the money you are putting aside often gets to be used for emergency and even though you planned your monthly expenses, there are lots of things popping out of nowhere demanding to be paid.
Life is really hard especially when you have someone depending on you. So i know what you mean, its really hard to control life.

I usually have this feeling,sometimes I have a big confidence with my future,everything seems so beautiful,so harmonious.But when some unhappy or chill things happen,there is as if a black cloud cover above my head,I even don't know I exist for what just like now, I am seeking an answer...
