Since fall is upon us and the holidays are just around the corner it is time for me to start with this simple recipe that my sons love. Slice a half of a fresh orange. Sprinkle about 15 to 20 whole cloves and add to the orange in about 2 cups of water and place in small pan on the stove. Bring to a simmering boil. It fills my home with the most delightful aroma. I started doing this a long time ago and my sons say it just isn't christmas with out the smell of oranges and cloves filling the house. I would love to hear some other tips for the holidays for you.

I put a few cinnamon sticks, a sprinkle of nutmeg, cloves and a little vanilla into a 2-quart pan filled with water and set it on the stove to simmer. It smells wonderful! I like the idea of the oranges too. You could use the orange peel of an orange too.

Oh wow, this sounds wonderful. I am definatley going to try this one. The orange peel alone really doesn't do as well as slices of orange. I guess it needs the juice to. Thanks for the great response

NIce thing but one thing I don't understand is whether it is used only for spreading the sweet smell or it can be drank.I think that it is used only for the fragrance since using so much of the cloves is not good for the health.

This is just for the aroma. I don't know if it would be unhealty for you to drink it as clove is good for you in a lot of ways, but I wouldn't think it would taste very good. But be advised - it sure does make you hungry for something festive.

Ooh that sounds like a really good idea! Can I come over to your house for a while? Lol....I don't know if I have any holiday tips. I am only 18 so I don't have my own house and therefore don't do alot of things like that. But I hope you get some really cool responses to that!
