I'm a microwave girl! There are some that are "quick" and more like "real" oatmeal as opposed to the instant. The oats in the instant are pretty shredded up, whereas the quick has whole oats in there.

I don't like my oatmeal that mushie. I prefer to cook it on the stove top the I can get the consistancy that I like. I like my oatmeal with some body. i like to put raisens and other dried fruit in it and top it off with butter and brown suger. I also like to put maple flavoring and brown sugar in it.

If ever, I would prefer my oatmeal cooked in a stove. I found out that too much cooking in microwave causes cancer, as for radiation.
But I'd consider it maybe once in a while, especially when in a hurry!;)

I always eat oatmeal for breakfast primarily because it is so easy to make. I buy my oatmeal the kind that's quick cooking. I don't have to cook it on the stove. I just pour hot water with it and it's done. I always like this kind than the other one which you still have to cook and that takes quite sometime.

I have done my oatmeal in the microwave for many years...always very moist and smooth. I add raisens to it while it's cooking...hmmmm....they add just enough fruit to my bowl and then I put brown sugar and a little soy milk on it (allergic to dairy). It is supposed to be good for lowering high cholesterol. I had it 2 days ago.

I don't eat oatmeal but my son does. I just buy him those packs you put in the microwave and he loves them.

I like both, but I don't buy the microwave kind. instead I just put a cup or two of regullar oatmeal into a blender and whirl for aa few seconds. The only difference in the two is that the instant kind is chopped smaller to cook faster. I also cook the regular kind in the microwave, right in the serving bowl i'll be using, takes about 2 minutes.
