Let's admit it. We know our puppies become our babies and become a part of our family. They get a special place in our heart. My question is, what is your favorite dog breed and why. My obcession with chinese shar peis started about 16 years ago when I recieved a mutt that was half shar- pei and half chihuahua. Neiko ( his name) followed me everywhere and listened to everything i said. Sadly a crazy neighbor who had a grudge poisoned him and he died. A year and a half later my parents gave me a pure bred shar pei puppy for christmas. She was creme colored and looked like a little snow ball. Sometime later I than acquired 2 more. They became part of the family so fast. These dogs love to be loved they thrive on it. and get so upset when you get mad at them. I would never Dream of owning a different type of dog.

Hi phillygirl606. I have a lot of favorite dog breeds. I like beagles because they are sweet, friendly and adorable. I have three beagles who I absolutely love. I also like shih tzus. I never had a shih tzu before but, I was able to pet a shih tzu. She is so adorable and cute. I wanted to have one. My dream dog. I also like labradors and pomeranians.

Yes, I do agree that shih tzus needed to be groomed because of their long hair. It is hard to maintain.

I have two dogs. One that stays outside and the other one that is inside. The one outside is named Romeo. He is half boxer and half german shepherd. He is spoiled, even if he is an outside dog. He is a lover. He will put his paws on your shoulder and lay his head on your neck and snuggle. He believes he is a 75 pound lap dog. The other little stinker that lives at our house is Baby Girl. She is chihuahua and Yorkshire terrier mix. She has these little tufts of hair that stick out around her neck, and has chihuahua ears. She is adorable and completely my baby. She sleeps with us, and will get between us if given half the chance.

Great discussion! I have never owned a sher pi, but your description sounds wonderful. I am addicted to the boxer breed myself. I have two girls, Daisy, 5 and Bailey 1 1/2. They are the best dogs i've ever had the pleasure of knowing! They are just wonderful, sweet, playful, great with other animals, (my cat), and kids, very gentle when they have to be! I have pictures of them up on my website as well. It's on my profile page.

I adore pugs. I have a minipug and a mini snauwser I love them both but if I ever get another dog it will be a pug. I like all dogs but I know I can only own certain types that go with my personality.

My favourouite dog breed is the Labrador retriever. labradour are not only strong and energetic but are also very loyal and can be easily trained, they are a versatile breed of dogs and can be trained for a variety of tasks. Labradors are also ecessively loyal and non aggressive which makes them very easy to handle; thats why i am a proud owner of four of these beautiful pets

I suppose I'm biased, because the only dog I've ever had was a chocolate lab, but I adore labs! I know, they're water dogs, so they can smell, uh, interesting, but their personalities totally make up for it. My dog was incredibly smart (smart enough to conveniently 'forget' commands from time to time..heh), very sweet and very well behaved. He was the only dog I've ever met that had no interest in climbing on furniture, too, but that could have been just a personality quirk. I absolutely love the look of weimaraners, but I've heard they can have difficult personalities, so if I could have any type of dog, I think I'd go for a labrador-weimaraner cross. Beauty, brains and personality. ;)

I had 2 dobies - one a female and one a male and they were great dogs. Now I have 2 labs, a father-son combo. The most loving wonderful dogs I have had. They are older now (11 and 8 1/2) but they are so sweet and willing to please all the time, no matter how they feel that you can't help but love them. If I sleep in, they wait patiently, if I get home late and dinner is late - they don't mind. They just want to be with their people.

As you can see by my picture I love daschunds. I have had three. My first I had for 14 years even before I had kids. Now I have a 10 year old and a 2 year old females. I do remember fondly the dog that my grandfather had when I was little. He had a great dane named Coco which he trained to do all sorts of tricks. They put on little shows for all the grandkids. Now my dogs...they think they are people.

Belgian Sheepdog - Isn't it a beautiful dog!
Your neighbor killed your dog! Oh my gosh! What happened to him? I hope you sued him! I hope he went to jail. What a sick jacka--...well you know. There are a lot of dog breeds that I adore and wouldn't mind owning; labs/retrievers, rottweilers, pitbulls, great danes, bernese mountain dog/greta pyrenese, etc. But currently I learned of a BEAUTIFUL breed and it is def. on the top of my list to own! It is called a Belgian Sheepdog. I even started making up names lol! So far I have Kingston, Jack, Coal, Bear. Check em out...

Shar-peis are gorgeous dogs. A friend of mine had two of them and they were very smart, loving and really cute! They trained the dogs to accept having their faces rubbed since this seems to be one of the major attractions when seeing this breed of dog. I'm a sucker for standard size collies. Unfortunately collies have been breed so much that they're not the kind of dog they use to be. I grew up with a tri-colored collie and he was truly a family dog. I enjoy brushing dogs and so I prefer the long hair breeds. I'm especially taken with Afghan Hounds and their glorious coats of fur. Dogs have to be a part of the pack (or family) otherwise they can become pretty miserable.

My daughter has a lurcher and I've fallen head over heels in love with that dog. Her name is Rose and she's part greyhound or whippet, part something else (possibly saluki). I love pugs too but if I ever get another dog it'll probably be a lurcher. Rose is, above all, extremely smart. Absolutely the brightest dog I've ever met.

I love pomeranians.Ive one at home and i call him Tikku. He is such a sweet thing when it comes to loving. But he is different from his parents ,as he is very aggressive when he encounters a stranger. He loves every members of my family and he is so cuddly cute. I like small toy breed dogs because they are loveable.

Although i've never owned a shar pei puppy. My sister once owned a chihuahua and i liked to bark and not listen. It was a terrrible experience because the little monster was so cute it was hard to be stern with him. I agree that they do not like to be in trouble. I also wanted to say that I am sorry that your neighbour poisoned you dog. Did you ever consider charging that neighbour? well if you have any proof you should. Well anyway all the best wishes to your two new puppies.

well i own a 7 year old boxer and i guess it was the right choice for me. actualy i accidently got the dog and at first it was an unwanted pet but things changed really quick. boxers are friendly and refered as to family dogs, protective. They are very suspicious to strangers, always alert, have good reflexes, great strenght and pretty much all it take to make him a vrey good guard dog. also they are very playfull, well my boxer is. i love`em and i wouldn`t get a different kind of breed for anything in the world
