My New Hobby: Feed the fish..

In front of my table desk, there are three fish ponds with lots of fish especially in the biggest ponds. I dont really care about the fish before the gardener take care of the fish and feed them everyday. One day I dont see any gardener feed the fish and also the next day, apparently they are too busy and forgot to feed the fish.
I feel pity to the fishes and feed them. I found that interesting because they eat like they never eat before, sometimes the small fish dont get the food because the bigger fish eat the food till finish.
Now I enjoy feeding the fish every morning before I start to work. The fish are happy and the gardener are happy too because I help them to feed the fish..

I had the hobby when i am a junior,i feed the fish as soon as after scholl.Looking them swimming freely make me feel relax.But the fish always die in a few weeks.It makes me feel sad,i don't know the reasons.I didn't give up until it happened again.If any one have the good ways of fish culture,i'd like to communicate with you.

I have over 55 years experience in the hobby. I was president of an aquarium club for over 29 years and am now involved in a couple of aquarium clubs near whee I live . If you wish to let me know what you did, including the size of the tank and how you cleaned it out as well as how many and sizes of fish that you put in, I will try to explain what you might have done that was not right. I think that it would be best to do this through this site so that everyone can gain knowledge from your experience. I do not know everything because the more that I get to know about fish the more that I get to know that I don't know about them.

That is great that you have taken up a new hobby and are enjoying feeding the fish. I am sure the fish are loving you even more now that you are helping with feeding them. I bet they are very beautiful fish too. I took up bird feeding this past summer as well as providing water for them to drink and bath in. We need to help our wildlife out by providing food. It is neat watching the fish eat. My neighbor has several fish tanks.

Yes, I dont know before that feeding the fish could be very fun and make me more happy. What you do in providing food for the wildlife is also a good one. I am considering now to join one of the organization like that in my place..

Oh what a great hobby. I have a 60 gallon fish tank in my living room and feed them daily (unless I forget). I think just the sound from the water and watching the fish swim around is so very relaxing.

That makes me enjoy feeding the fish, they make noisi sound very funny to see their mouth open to reach the pellets, sometimes I gave them bread and they kinda like it and struggle to eat it..

That is nice thoughts for you but make sure that the gardener knows that you are feeding the fish so that the fish do not get overfed. I have many aquariums in my house and know that if you overfeed then it will foul the tank very fast. The goldfish and koi that are living in the pond will almost always accept food as though they have not eaten but that can make them sick and shorten their life span. The rule of thumb that I give to people is that the size of the eyes is about the size of the stomach or if it takes more than two minutes for the food to be eaten then you are overfeeding.

Oh Thank you for that usefull information. I dont know that fish could be overfeed. I thought they are just hungry because whenever I feed them, they eat like crazy.. I will take more attention to that then..

I sometimes also feed my fish. Actually my husband usually do it, but I help him if he ask me to feed the fish if he still busy with his stuff. It's nice to see the fish try to reach the pellet. But my fish are not in the pond, they have they own aquarium, so they are not fight each other. I want to have fish in the pond too actually, but the house condition is still not ok.

I think the fish in aquarium are more lucky than the fish in the pond, they dont have to fight for the food. The fish in the pond are always fighting for the food. Big fish always win, because their mouth are wider so they can eat more pellets..

I love feeding fishes in a small pond. That is pretty relaxing to sit there near the pond and watch the fish swimming around and jumping sometime to eat. How big is the pond there, afternoontea?

Your discussion reminds me of the time when we were feeding the fish in the park. My son loved it and we had a very good time together. The fish were quite large and they were so eager to get the food. So you could see a group of the fish swimming to you. That's so happy.

I also love fish very much all the time, It was a small pond in the back of our past house, I often put some small fishes into the pond, sometimes I fed the fish but not everyday,The thing i did everyday was to visit them and i felt how happy they were ! but now the pond has gone, I have never fed fish for a long time

That was a hobby of mine when I was still 10-12 years old... barely 10+ years ago... I liked having the fish fed... especially in the morning... :) Time only came when I did become very busy and I had not much time feeding any pets anymore... :( I miss my fish years ago....

thats nice! maybe you should try also feeding the fish in the water..... in a sea or ocean....you got to be super close to them.. its really fun.... they tickles....
