Do you take cucumber for health or taste? It has very less calories and it tastes very good - I usually take a cucumber when I am hungry in the evenings as it is not fattening.

Dear dbhattji, I used to take one cucumber because I have a heart problem. The article which carry blood to heart is blocked. Doctor prescribed me medicine. I took the medicine continuously one month but it made me very week. I told my heart surgeon I would stop the medicine he presribed me because I was feeling very week after taking it. During that time I was told by colleaque that take every day one cucumber in the morning which in due course will help you to open the block in your article. His advise really worked. Today I do not have any block in my heart. I have been taking cucumber for the last 5 years.

Hi bhattji, Cucumber is excellent for health. It's non-fattening and the water content leaves us hydrated. I think, you are just doing great with those cucumbers in the evenings. You can try and make it little more tasty by adding tomatoes, ginger, lime juice, onion, sprouted chhana and pinch of salt. My mom prepares this for my father, who suffers from coronary artery disease, whenever he is hungry. Thanks.

I really like to eat cucumber for its lovely taste and the way it is so moist. I think it contains much luquid inside and must not have many calories at all. I usually eat it as part of a delicious salad with letuce, cauliflower and carrots. I am sure it is a good idea to eat cucumber as a healthy snack. Do you put any kind of dressing on it? I like a sprinkling of lemon juice or a spoonful of English style salad cream.

Cucumber - The cucumber is a member of the Cucurbitaceous family, like melons, squash and pumpkins.
This vegetable is very high in water and very low in calories. It is an excellent source of potassium, vitamin C and folic acid (only if it is unpeeled)
Cucumber is a women's friend when they are on a diet but also for its cosmetic properties.
Nowadays, the cucumber is is a provider of a very healthy juice beneificial for its properties as an increaser of the flow of urine and as a complement to the effects of celery and carrot juie for rehumatic conditions, while at the same time being a soothing skin lotion. Other health benifts of the cucumber is derived from the fact that it is very low in calories, about 4 per ounce (54KJ per 100g). Very high in potassium contents have been claimed for the plant which from the most up-to-date analyses available would seem to be an exaggeration. The vitamin content is also generally to be found between low and average for the edible vegetable. Nevertheless, cucumber juice certainly beneficial the treatment of rheumatic conditions. Although the whole juice is the best skin lotion it is worth remembering that the peel itself, like lemom peel, should always be retained and used on the hands specially after they have been in a strong detergent or in very hot water. It is not necessary to rub hard - indeed skin are with cucumber should be a gentle, fragrant art. Source: http://www.home-remedies-for-you.com/articles/Cucumber-health-benefits.html
