I've always chaperoned my oldests field trips, and next Tuesday I'm chaperoning a trip for my preschooler. I'm excited about it. There's been a couple times when things have come up and I've had to back out last minute, but I always make up for it by offering to help with treats for the next class party or whatever. Don't feel guilty pop, you can only do so much.

I hope that your daughter has a great outing to the barn. I am a teacher and a parent. On school trips I find a few parents offer to help and I am always grateful for this. I put the most children with challenging behavior in my group so they have well bahaved children. One time I took my class to a recycling center and that was very interesting. Another time I took my class pond dipping. That was very scary as safety was a great concern. It reminded me of when I was training to become a teacher. The children at that school I was on school experince in went to a canal barge museum. The class I was with were quite sensible rather luckily but the other student had some challenging children in the other class.

Please don't feel bad, you can only do so much, I'm sure your daughter will understand. Hopefully you can go on the next one. I remember my sons first field trip it was to a pumpkin farm and I couldn't go either, I remember thinking about it all day wishing I was there. The last field trip I went on with my son was to the Chicago Cubs baseball game. There was only two of us moms and many dads.lol

when my daughter had her first fieldtrip at the zoo, i made sure i went with her. Though i dont think she remembers it, its a nice way to be with your child and also spend time with other parents and children. That's really too bad that you cant go to her fieldtrip, maybe you can ask someone to look after her since you cant missed your exam in school. maybe you can join her next time.
