I must tell you I cant draw to save my life!LOL My aunt paints portaits of people and she is so good. She is now doing a portait of me. I must say its very good and Im excited she wanted to do a portait of me. I cant wait till its done. The only thing I dont like is I have to sit there for hours while she paints. So does anyone in your family paint?

I can paint scenes and I am at good at doing cartoons. The trouble is that paints and pastels cost money, and I do not have the time, since I am writing. I did make a map for my novel though and I put it on my hard drive so that I can find where my hero went, and put in the name of the towns, the street name, rivers, and such. I never was good at portraits though.

My brother did at college for a while and thought that he might go onto being an artist and stuff but he stopped after his wife had kids and got a full time paid job. My Uncle who is a writer and artist does unusual paintings - mostly Pacific Island and Samoan material :)

Oh..once it's done can you take a photo of your portrait..would love to see it! :) My mom was an artist and did a lot of oil paintings when younger, and I did my first oil painting, a still life when I was only six...hehehe Last year I was doing a whole series of "fairy" paintings in watercolor...I just scanned this one just to show off..hehehe

My Mother - A Budding Artist
My mother paints, or should I say did paint. She spends most of her time in front of the computer these days. Here is a picture of her painting with her instructor by her side. She was taking a course at the local senior center. The picture was in our local newspaper.

How exciting for you Terry! I would love for someone to paint a portrait of me and my husband. But I know he wouldn't sit there for that :) The only painting in my family that I am aware of is the painting I do, on my house. How long does it usually take for her to complete a portrait? When I was a toddler we were stationed in Madrid, Spain and my parents became freinds with a professional painter. He took some photographs of me and my brother and my sister and made 3 hand painted portraits of the 3 of us, one for my parents and 2 for grandparents. He did one of my mom alone and one of them from their anniversary. We still have those portraits. Let us know how it turns out, maybe you can take a digital picture and share with us.

I also have very limited drawing skills but I would love to learn to do portraits. I've also always wanted to learn to do caricature's. My younger Brother is a very good artist and has won awards for his drawings however, when he got married his wife told him to "put away those toys and get a real job" and so he quit drawing. I still have some that he did for me and I do treasure them. I hope one day he goes back to it. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
