Decorative Cakes

This topic jus makes me laugh! I have tried so many times to make "theme" cakes but they never turn out quite right. My kids finally gave up on asking for a specic thing and just requested "surprise cakes" lol. They enjoyed my effort either way which is all that mattered anyway. My biggest attempt was the train cake I made for my oldest son's 7th birthday. It looked like a train, complete with the engine and an assortment of cars trailing behind it. I had to put it on a piece of cardboard 4 feet long and brace it with a yard stick.

I have made quite a few decorated cakes over the years. I made a lighthouse wedding cake once that was awesome. My favorite cake was an igloo that I made for my grandsons second birthday. I made little penguins ans snow all around it. It really turned out great. I think the hardest cake I ever made was a fire truck.
