Okay this is a sort of rant time I reckon. Not really a bad rant but still. Hahaha!! I hate raking leaves. The main reason is so that my yard looks pleasantis the dang wind. HAHAHAHA! I rake each week during the fall and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of leaves that will get blown into my yard from neighbors trees etc. I keep looking at my yard full of leaves hoping the wind would change directions blowing them to a neighbors yard. HAHAHAHA!!Oh well it is a gradening chore after all & I do love gardening so I continue to rake them each week. HAHAHA! Did it Saturday afternoon and my front yard is loaded once again. Ughhh! So how often do you rake your yard of leaves? How many trees do you have in your yard? I have the Red Maple as well as a Cottonwood trees. Those leaves from the Cottonwood are ugly leaves as well. Those don't blow into my neighbors yards too often. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Leaf Pile - Ok, it's not ALL leaves, My hubby also mowed grass and threw the clipping in there too. It will be so much fun for the kids to play in, if the weather ever dries out!
Well, my kids know that if they want to play, they need to rake. My daughter's are really good about it, my son, not so much. (he's lazy like his mom.) My hubby went out last week and raked them all up. We throw them in the garden to hopefully compost over winter. Some we burn, but not too many, as I can't stand all the smoke. The sad thing is,all the leaves we raked up so far aren't even ours! They are all from our neighbor's maple trees. Our Hackberry and willow haven't started dropping yet. So, now we're waiting for the rain to stop (sorry to all my southern friends. I'm not trying to hog it all... REALLY!) so we can get out and rake some more. I do enjoy it, but my arms--not so much. I also need to invest in a really good pair of leather gloves, as I get blisters so easily. (Aww... I know... pity party for Chris. ) LOL! Have fun raking!! :)

Rated & copmmented on the pic. That's not that big a pile though. I need a MUCH larger pile to play in ang it. Get busy and make it bigger for me please? Less grass also. That stuff itches when it gets stuck between my buttocks. HAHAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I feel for you Grandpa Bob. But I just cant relate because I don't have to rake my yard. Keep up the good work in your yard because if you enjoy guarding then it must be a reward.

I love the rewards of the beautiful flowers from all my gardens. I also enjoy the fruits and veggies I eat every year as well. But I really love seeing all the birds, bees, and butterflies that attracted to the blooms of all my various plants I have. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hubby was out raking the leaves last week. He got them to the other side of the road near the woods and a big wind lifted them back up and blew them back into our yard. He tossed the rake.

I like raking the leaves because it is a time that I get to spend with my kids. They all have rakes and we take different parts of the yard to rake and they do the best job they can. We like to get a big pile of leaves and then when we are done the kids jump into them. I do hate though the leaves blowing into our yard. It always happens that when we get done the wind starts to pick up and we have more leaves in our yard. I rake about once or twice a month.

raking with young kids is a lot of fun. I am a kid at heart and refuse to grow up so this chore is more fun than work to me. Especially when the grandkids are around to "help". HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I rarely rake leaves, but I think my hubby would appreciate it if I did. In most instances, there is no point in raking the leaves in my front garden. As it is okay to let them drop on the ground around plants, & use it as mulch. However, leaves on the foortpath to our front door & the driveway should be raked every now & then. We don't get any where near as many leaf drops as you. Most of Australias tress are everygreen & not deciduous. I have two very large gum tresn my front yard. I viewed your photo, rated it & wrote a comment.

What is this raking you speak of......I mow mine over and make mulch hehehe im lazy. No I will usually rake mine once a year as the big trees leaves tend to fall late in the season and thats the bulk of my leaves. Oh and dad I think I have ever bearing raspberries they are producing again for me im so excited.

Yeah that's being VERY lazy girl. Where did you inherit this lazy trait from huh? Hahahaha!! I don't like the chewed up leaves on my lawn. I take pride in a clean yard. (most times) HAHAHA! That's the variety of Rasbverries I gave you were ever bearing. I've cut mine to the ground already. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM DADDY!!~

The joys of raking leaves. Well we have 5 mowable acres of yard—and there is NO way I’m raking the whole yard- We rake a lot- but for fun- to jump in them- to fill pumpkin bags- etc. The rest get mowed over and then swept up in the lawn sweeper- so not often- it’s a chore I don’t enjoy but we make it fun!

I only have about 10 mature and very tall trees in my yard, mainly white ash, but there are zillions of trees around us out in the woods. I don't bother raking unless I'm putting the leaves in my garden/flower beds. I use my rider and mulch the leaves and leave them in the yard to fertilize.

Now if I lived in a rural area it wouldn't be so bad leaving them on the ground. But I would use a riding lawn mower or raker to clean as much as p[ossible. But in the city it looks tacky with too many leaves on the lawn. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Aha! I caught you Grandpa Bob! In another discussion of mine you said you didn't have any distasteful tasks! It sounds like raking leaves is distasteful to you. You don't mind being buried in them, though! I don't get many leaves in my yard, but lots of pine needles. I do have a couple of small sweet gum trees and one small maple--all the rest are pine trees. I never did like cottonwood trees, especially in the spring when they shed their "cotton".

i hate raking leaves myself-i usually just leave them sit unless it's really bad.we probably have about 20 mature trees in the yard, but the majority of what drops in the yard is not ours-it's from the neighbor's trees.they have HUGE 60-80ft oaks that dump on our side. half of ours are common maple that don't really drop that much.

I hear ya, we have two big maple trees. We get so many leaves, it takes a lot of work and time to rake them up, them my neighbors across our yard don't rake and everything blows back on our lawn. It makes me crazy but I do like the leaves, they are very pretty.

The wind is a given during leaf raking I think. I rake then bag them and all of a sudden the wind starts up blowing more onto my neat and leaf free yard. HAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have just a few. About five. Two maples....an elm...an evergreen and a Joshua tree. That is a tree my dad planted with my son when he was about four years old. I will never take down that tree...it will have to fall over first!
