Fungus.

I never knew what a conk was until I went and looked it up just now, it's a wood eating fungus. I wonder if it lives on even after it gets plucked from a tree? Some people paint on them here in Oregon. -Amber

I grew up with them being called conks I'm not sure what purpose they serve but they sure are weird to look at. -Amber

My aunt dries these and paints on them. She does some wonderful paintings.

I think mushrooms are actually pretty interesting to look at. They come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors. Some grow in the oddest ways too, which can make for a good picture.:)

Hi matte:)I love these mushrooms.We have a kind here almost like those and there is a man who makes wooden chairs,furniture for outside and stuff made out of stumps or trees that have a bump in them.He adds these to them.He has a small store and inside he has cupboards and has these on them for door handles,hahaha.He puts lot of varnish on them.Its very unique.I collected some this summer for decoations in dried flower arrangements and baskets,etc. Peanutjar:)
