Today I had the wonderful experience of stepping aboard a glass bottomed boat in Lindos on the beautiful island of Rhodes! It was an hour cruise all around Lindos and the caves, bays and beauty spots. It was wonderful, the sea was soooo green and clear, being from the UK and dirty water it was a wonderful sight. But being able to see under the sea beneath us, the fishes, sponges (which are a speciality in Rhodes and Symi), and other aquatic life, although I saw no sharks, crabs or lobsters! But nevertheless it was truly a wonderful ride and amazing and breath-taking seeing all the shoals of fish in the Aegean! Have you ever been on a glass bottom boat or had the chance to view life beneath the ocean! It is a great opportunity and definitely the highlight of my holiday.

It sounds like you had a lovely time in Rhodes. Going in the glass bottom boat must have been fantastic seeing the underwater world. I went on such an outing in Fiji. There I saw in the beautiful blue sea colorful coral and many pretty fish of all different sizes. The next country that I went to was Australia. I had my first experience snorkeling from a pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef. I was incredibly deep water right out in the ocean far from any land. I couldn't believe how magical the underwater world looked. The coral was like a multi colored cave system. There were shallow and deep patches of it. The fish seemed quite friendly and inquisitive. Then when I was in Cairns I took a snorkeling trip from there. It stopped at in the ocean and it was quite scary in case drifted too far away. The coral was stunning. Then it stopped near a little sandy isle. I climbed off the boat and swam over to the tiny island. The coral in the waters around it were spectacular.

Yes, I have been on a glass bottom boat, but the whole thing made me a little woozy. I didn't like it so much.

I went on a similar cruise when I was a child here in the States. It was on a lake somewhere and I honestly don't remember where!! I would love to do this again. It sounds like your trip and cruise was awesome. I love to see nature and observe it!

I didn't think I would see much (what is the difference from snorkeling?) but was I wrong. I LOVED it. Saw all kinds of fish and underground creatures and the guide was more than knowedgeable telling us WHAT it was we were looking at. Would do it again in a heartbeat although the next thing I want to do is the Atlantis submarine in the Cayman Islands.

My dad's side of the family lives in Australia as he is from there. One year we took a glass bottom boat ride and it was SO awesome! We got to see the beautiful corral, fish, and everything! I had such a blast, it was definitely the most favourite part of the whole trip. Luv & Hugzz, PurpleTeddyBear.

It's so good to hear that you are enjoying your holiday, wolfie! I think it must be fascinating to be on a glass-bottomed boat. I've never been on a boat at all. To be able to see the creatures in their natural habitat must be a sight to behold. I could be just a tiny bit envious of you, my friend, lol. Enjoy the rest of your holiday and keep us up to date on anything interesting.(:

Yes, about 40 years ago, on the San Marcos river. I sent my son there last spring. No more glass bottom boats.

I've never been on a glass bottomed boat but it sounds wonderful, I've never been anywhere where the water is that clear though to try it I don't think. I really must broaden my horizons a bit.
