Passed my typing test with 40 wpm and 2 errors. Thanks for the advice.

I would have done better, but they had the old rule of 2 spaces after the period. Now the last time I took a test, they said only one space after. Just so you know, before you take a test, ask which it is and practice that way. It really slowed me up having to make sure, and I forgot twice. Also, this test taking software isn't very fast, I was a word ahead of what was showing up on the screen. Also, you couldn't use a mouse to make corrections, backspace or delete only. So a word ahead was not a great thing. But I only needed 35 words per min. with one error, so I believe I passed. Will get official word soon. Thanks again.

Thank you very, very much! What a relief! And yesterday, I just received official confirmation that I passed and I will be on the County list for jobs. So I can get interviewed and hopefully get a job with the County. Take care

Congratulations. You did better than me when I took my first test. I made so many errors, and in those days, you did it on a manual typewriter and you could not back space. The rule of two spaces is because Courier and Courier New look like typewritten font and that is what they used in the old days. Two spaces after a period looks much better. With Times New Roman, you can get away with one space, but not with Courier.

Yes, it's just very confusing. I wish they would tell us in advance which way it will be so I can practice whichever way they are testing. Thank you very much for the congrats! Take care.

I don't know how fast I can type however if I'm typing things that are in my head like answering things on here...I can go quite fast but if I'm reading things from like a book and trying to type them I turn into hunt and pecking LOL **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

What's in my head at Mylot or Helium goes fast, too. But when reading and trying to type someone else's thoughts, I slow way down, usually not hunt and peck (unless there are numbers in it). Thanks twoey!

That was the County Test. I wish I could do 90 for the state one. I have a friend who works for Plattsburgh State and the typist for the English section is supposed to type 90 wpm with 1 error. She said they don't need that. What they need is someone who works continuously and has common sense. What they have is nobody because no one can meet the specks. Better to have someone who types 45 wpm with 1 or 2 errors and common sense than no one. She said they had someone, but she typed notations into papers instead of reading the notes (at 90 words per min., like you're reading anything at that speed?). Like instead of typing a warning in all caps, the person would type the words "All Capitols." Plus when a job for more money came up, that person was gone in a heartbeat. Crazy, huh? Thanks for the response and I bet you could do touch type, but it's not as much fun as the twins. Take care

Good for you, especially on the accuracy... thats really the part that counts! I had faith in you, and you had faith in yourself, so there wasn't any doubt that you'd pass. Congrats!
