Every time I have answered my phone today...

It has been a fax machine calling my personal home line and I have answered my phone five times now!! Very frustrating! LOL
This often happens to me and has for many months now...One day it was eight times! Sometimes it is three or four times in the span of fifteen to twenty minutes!
Have you ever had this happen to you?
If so, how did you handle it...If not, what would you do if it did start happening?
Having a very frustrating day here!!!

Hi heavenschild that has happened to me. And boy that can be very aggraviating. I lasted for days. Then I moved into this house and I have a new unlisted phone number and havent had that problem again. If it continues you might want to consider getting a different number. Its so worth it.

I cannot get a new number as my autistic son is in the process of learning our curret phone number and we do not want to re-teach him!

8 times thats nothing. when my parents got a house they were given the same number (phone) as the previus owners. The man had some buisness and we used to get so many calls (and it started only after we gave everyone the new phone number) so if we changed the number we had to call everyone or get a special service that was $75 per month to tell the caller our new number. some days we used to get up to 100 fax calls but after we complained we got less and less and few months after the new yellow pages came out and the calls stoped.

Well, that would be terrible!!
The difference with us is that my husband has had this same number since before we were married and it has never been a business! It has always been a private landline which makes no sense why this tends to happen on a regular basis!! To my knowledge there is really nothing we can do about it except to put up with the beeping! :)

When that happens at my work phone, at the third time I start talking, saying that the number they are calling is not a fax machine. The fax machines we have, we are able to hear such messages and the few times it has happened, that stopped it.
Now my home phone, I never answer. I am hardly at home anyway. If it is important, they will leave a number to call back, and they better identify themselves, or they will not hear from me. It's just as good as Caller ID :D
A few months ago I had at least two clowns (I suspect they are from a charity I used to give to) would leave daily messages on my machine like, "Hello? ... Hello ~ ... HELLO! ..." Finally for a week I had my machine greet all the callers clearly identifying it as a machine and that the only information it stores is the message they leave, and that it is very silly being offended at a machine that doesn't answer back and even funnier trying to get it to answer.
They finally stopped then.

Hi heavenschild,
Wow, this must be really annoying. I'm sure you've got better things to do, than to answer these calls. I have had this happen a few times, but not in quite awhile. Would you consider changing your phone number, if this really got out of hand?

As I mentioned to Terry, It will be difficult to change our number as our son is currently learning our phone number and doing well with it...We do not want to re-teach him! However, it would be a good idea and perhaps a solution!
