Family Portraits...How often do you have yours taken?

How many times do you go and get a family photo done professionally? The last one we had was 17 years ago...I have no idea why we haven't gone since then... Do you get them taken once a year, every 5 years or what?

My family had a family portrait done about three years ago, my son was a two I think. I'm not quite sure what we were thinking at the time, but it wasn't until we arrived for the shoot that we realized all three of us had more or less the same colour on. And to make things even sillier, the photographer set us up in front of a similar coloured background! Geesh, maybe if she tried that little bit harder, she might have been able to make it look like we were the floating head family!!! We haven't had one done since, I think maybe that put us off, lol!!

Good for halloween??? What are you trying to say about my family, Feona? Oh, the floating head part, now I get it! Yea, she kind of put me off a bit. The best shot's of my son, though, were from a photographer set up in the shopping mall, and she set my son up in various settings and got great shots quickly. My son smiled at her the whole time, and by the time she finished, there were heaps of people just standing around watching!

Wow! You are one sad man, my friend...Doesn't anything ever go right for you?..LOL..I would have said give me the #@$% button and I will take the pictures myself...One time I took the boys and this lady wanted them to pose and I was like, "just take the picture already"...I think I had more experience then she did...When my daughter was about 4 months old the lady told me to bring her back when she could sit on her own...I was like, "take some pictures lady she doesn't need to be sitting for that." Nightmare...No wonder no one goes to the "studio" anymore....Floating heads...that could be a good one for Halloween...

Not very often as we should we always say that we are going to get it taken and then we never do, the timing is never right with money and my stepson living 2200 miles from us,

Hi Feona, Now that my husband and I have our daughter we are getting family portraits done once a year at Christmas. Every year family gets pictures in their Christmas card. Our family live pretty far away so it is a good way to see ho much our daughter has changed every year. PurpleTeddyBear.

Hello! Wow! I can't remember when was the last time we had a family portrait taken by a professional photographer, I reckon it was a loooooooonnnggggg time ago, when we're still kids. Maybe the reason we haven't really thought about it is because we always take pictures of us and some videos, and sometimes stolen shots are more fun! *hehehe* Now that you've mentioned it maybe its time for me and my family to go to a studio for some family portrait, maybe that's one major thing i'll do when i'll go back to Philippines. Thanks. Take care. Hope all is well. *smile* ciao! c",)

I think the last family portrait that we had done was about 5 years ago. It was done in the sepia tones, and we all had to put on old fashioned clothes. My favorite was the picture of my son and hubby together. They were in identical outfits and hats, and my son didn't have anything on his feet and his toes were curled into the carpet. It was just too cute.

The last one was when the boys were young about twenty or so years ago, or was it before that? It was so long ago, I do not remember. Anyway it was when my hair was still mostly medium brown. I remember the photographer had a hard time getting the boys to stay still. After that, we had my husband's younger brother to take the photos as he was a photographer or we just used snapshots and I tried to avoid the camera as much as possible. I do not photograph well.

Hello Feona1962, For me, we have it taken every once a year. For the past two years, I have to join with my sister's family to take our family photo together. Mine consists of myself, my husband and my baby son and hers consists of herself and the two sons. According to our old belief, it is not good to have three in a photo and that's why I ask her to join me and my family. It is amazing that I do believe in this when the fact is, I don't really believe in this kind of weird beliefs. *laughs*
