Have you ever been depressed in your life? How did you overcome it? At one point in my life, I was so depressed. My life seemed to be filled with problems that poured like rain. I thought my life was hopeless. I had a failed relationship, had three children and I didn't know what to do. That's when I realized that I needed God in my life. I began praying, and found myself every now and then just sitting in church, praying and talking to God, feeling His presence around me. Things changed a lot for me since then. And I really thank Him for these marvelous changes only He alone can bring into my life.

I guess all of us experinced this... there was a certain point in my life when I experienced being very much depressed. That was the time when my former husband had an affair with another woman (until now). That really hurts, first because family is very important to me, second, I love him very much. I recover when on my part I did my very best to save our marriage, I've given him all the understanding that he needs, I've been a very good friend to the time that I believe he's the one hurting me. I recovered when I open my eyes, and realize that I have given the best that I can give, and actually there is nothing more left in me that I can give. I realize that its time to let go and move on with my life. I wont regret anything because I know that i have given my very best to make things worst... but then the man that I love is no longer mine. I believe that you will recover if you see things in different perspectives. You can seek the advice of your friends, but you have to weigh things and decide for yourself. There are times that letting go and moving on then hoping that something better is waiting is the best way we can do. Right now, I realized that HE has a better plan for me. He have given me the best that I never imagine I would have. And that is because I keep my faith on HIM.

I also went through a phase in my marriage life where my husband committed adultery. It was painful experience and I was shocked and slowly became very depressed. I thought it was my fault. I never thought of divorcing him because of my sons, my religion is against divorce and at that time, I still want to save my marriage. I forgave him and try to go on with our marriage for the sake of our children.

Hi Paulsy. I am really sad to hear that from you. How are you right now? Hopefully everything is right on the track back. I am depressing all the time. Haha. I mean life tends to be like this, it might not be too smooth for we people. And yes, I did pray when I am depressed, God does really cushion all the sorrows and difficulties which faced by me. No matter how friend,I always believed that the one that worth your tear will never make you cry. Thus, don't let him pull you down as he doesn't worth that. Good luck and all the best!

I have troubled from depression many times. 1st was when i was 18 years old. The second was during my final years in university when i have to write the bloody thesis & few months back when i dont enjoy my work environment,i never expect the dream job i was having can bring depression too. But many times the depression gone away when the situation gone. I mean after depress, after i quit the job i become normal back. Depression is hard to control & it's also cause by unbalance chemical in your brain. So now i will make sure myself stay away from any unhappy things to avoid depression again. http://moneyparadigm.wordpress.com

Yes, I agree! Always be optimistic...I don't think we'll be given problems and challenges that we can't handle! And when you get over these, believe me, the good things come in abundance! Good luck!

ha ha ha.....I think you should ask people "Have you ever NOT been depressed in your life" My dear friend, its not only you and me , but I think 90% of world today who is facing this deperssion problem. We all are depressed. I agree with you "GOD LISTENS" but even if you would have sat at home and spoken to him , he would have still helped you:)), Yes the holy atmosphere of church does make a difference, but I believe in two thing, first.....whenever you are depressed or in difficulty, you should remember God and talk to him like he is infront of you, no matter where you are. and the second thing is that when we talk to GOD with true feelings and honesty........he listens and he helps.....I can give so many proofs of this....... the ultimate peace is only in the arms of God....when we will understand this.....then we will never be sad or depressed again. I am happy that God helped you and may God always be with you and keep you and your children happy.GOD BLESS YOU.

Oh yes, I do agree with you. It really doesn't matter where we choose to pray to God. You're right, God listens to us, no matter where we are. It just so happened that I chose to stay inside the church, where it was really quiet, where I could really think and not be distracted by activities around me. Thanks for the response, God bless you too!

Hello paulsy, I had a depression once in my life when I lost my beloved dad and my eldest brother within a short period of time. They were two good men that I ever met in my life and when I lost both of them, I thought that I would not meet any good men anymore. I was depressed that I locked myself in my room most of the time and cried. I wrote letters to them, expressing my loneliness and sad moments without them. I managed to get out from the depression after six months when I dreamed of my dad one night, looking sad at me and disapproved my denial of fate. Right now, I am enjoying every second of my life with my beloved husband and baby. God still loves me. He gave me a beautiful life and amazing husband and son. I do treasure my life now!

Havent experienced depression that im aware of but i have been in situations where i have had to re-evaluate my life and make drastic changes to get it back on track. I think the biggest thing about depression is realising there is a problem and then seeking help or a direction to change your life. You found yours in god obviously.

Yes, the time I spent on praying was the same time I had that opportunity to stop and think about life, and about the problems I was going through, and even to appreciate what I already had. All that made me change my outlook in life. That's why I say, through God, through my prayers I find ways to solve the challenges in my life.

I have dealt with depression on and off in my life. The worst was post partum depression after I had my daughter. I went on celexa for that and it didnt help other than made me gain weight. Thats great you have become spiritual because I am not sure how to even approach spirituality.

Sometimes I feel depressed at some point that nobody would notice my hurt feelings. If someone would do something that rather disturbing on my part. I guess this is how life goes. But thank goodness that it would just go away easily. I only think of happy thoughts and always ask God to gave me guidance. If I were on your part, that'll be the same thing that i'll do, talk to God and ask for guidance. :)

I believe, it is a phase that we have to undergo in life. And prayer is a instrumental tool that will help a person cope up not with depression alone but in life as well.

I'm glad that you have found God and that He has helped you so much in your life, but personally I haven't been able to make that leap yet. I think that I have too many questions about God to be able to really believe that He even exists, because let's face it - religion isn't about feeling good or being a good person. It's about faith above all else. Anyway, I'm glad that you have found such peace in your life and I hope that I can do the same soon.

I have suffered depression and I have it under controlled. A few years back, I was the sole breadwinner in my family. With all the bills needed to be paid and debts piling up, my salary was not enough. On top of that, I have two younger children going to school and a husband who constantly starting an argument with me. He expected me to provide for the family and at the same time do the housework while he just sleep and wake up when he felt hungry. My weight went down and I was not having enough sleep because I have to finish the housework. I woke early every morning to send my children to school and came back quite late from work. At one time, I almost met an accident because I was so tired and sleepy while driving. But that was in the past. Like you I prayed hard and constantly. My prayer was answered and now I am the one who stayed at home and my husband goes to work. Praise the Lord!

I've had three bouts of post partum depression, two severe enough requiring medication. I found when I was depressed my problems just became too much for me to cope with and it is a cycle that just feeds itself. I'm glad you found help through your faith, but there is nothing wrong with seeknig medical help as well (I don't think you meant that). My faith is very important to me as well, but I still needed the help of medication.

hey not a single person in this world which havnt gone through depression, but the best way to reduce the depression and stress is that one should not let his confidence down, and should not stop believing in himself.Trust GOD and keep praying and you will definetely find out the path for rest of your life.
