I personally clean my carpet like every 3 months because as my family say I have a ken scent of smell. I could of just cleaned my house meaning bleached the walls dishes mop the floor cleaned the cat and rabbit litter etc. But if I go outside and come back in I'll still feel like my house isn't clean so I'll pull out my carpet steamer and start to steam clean my my stairs and upstairs hallway cause that is where the carpet is. So now instead of me cleaning my carpet every 3months I now do it every other week. My husband said he think I have issues and I need to see or speak to someone because shouldn't no one person clean like this. I explain to him we have kids on who is a toddler and several pets so I feel I need to disinfect my home and plus I don't like or want my house smelling like a pet store.(its seem like I'm the only 1 that can smell when the house is dirty.) Anyway how many of you steam clean your carpet(s)? And how offen?

We have a carpet steamer and I clean my carpets about once ever month or two. It's a Hoover cleaner and so we use Hoover cleaning products especially the allergen kind which comes in a green bottle because it smells so good. I did get the store brand one time but it doesn't have the great smell as the Hoover brand does. I guess it's, "You get what you pay for" kind of thing. Anyway, every two weeks is a bit much for steam cleaning but then again it's to each his own. I don't bleach walls down either but then again that's a case of to each his own. When I clean, I dust, clean the bathrooms and the floors with Pinesol which puts out a wonderful smell, I'll clean the kitchen with my dish soap. Now the litter box I use Arm and Hammer clumping litter for multi cats which works great to kill the smell. I don't use the other Arm and Hammer litter, can't remember the name of it but it looks the same as the multi cat one only it says for multi cats and I get the deodorizer and sprinkle it in when there's an odor and it really does the trick. I scoop the box every day twice a day which helps a lot and I'll dump it once every two months and clean it with Pinesol and comet and refill it with fresh litter and go through the same ole cycle again. It works for me and people tell me all the time that they can't believe that we have 8 cats and 3 dogs in our house. LOL

Oh I forgot to add, Pet Fresh carpet deodorizer works wonders too! We sprinkle it on the carpet and then take a broom and sweep it in and leave it and boy the whole room smells sooo good! LOL

Thank you for your response. I think you and my hubby is right about me shampooing the carpet so much but I think I have some type of disorder because if I don't smell or if theres just a little hit of order from anything it could be from the kids just coming in from outside playing, I smell dirt I'm having a not so clean feeling and then I have to start cleaning and making them get in the shower. If it don't smell good to me I feel that it is dirty and need to be cleaned. If I don't clean then the folks in my house will thing something is wrong me(I'm must be sick or something LOL). I don't know sometimes I think I'll get out that 1 day. PS I thought I was bad I have 2 rabbits, 2 cats, fish, and 2 dogs. LOL

Sounds like paranoia. My mom and I used to be the same way, clean clean clean all the time but we've come to realize, nothing can be clean 100% of the time and life is too short to be worried about being clean all the time. My oldest brother, when he was little, mom used to bathe him several times a day because of a little dirt he'd get into and now he can't stand to be dirty. Every time he goes out on a job he has to come home and get a shower before he goes on another job. So it's something to consider, you could be doing more harm than good when it comes to your kids.

We've lived here almost 2 years and I really need to clean the carpet but I have to get a cleaner first. We don't have kids and only one cat but the carpet still tends to pick up every bit of dirt it can find. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
