I feel it would be Pete Sampras - he was so consistent all through his career and won so many Grand Slams Tournaments and that too on different surfaces.

I would say Roger Federer. I used to consider Pete Sampras to be the best, but after all Federer has beaten Sampras at Wimbledon in their only meeting. Also, Sampras simply dominated the game with mostly his serve. Federer is good at every shot and can outplay his opponents more. At the rate Federer is winning titles, he will surpass Sampras' 14 grand slams record next year.

Federer is going to go down as one of the greates players ever. Rod Laver is one of the best old players from the wooden racket days. One of my favorites is my boy Pete Sampras. The best matches are when the greats have other greats to push them past there best for some real exciting tennis. Pete throwing up on court then winning a 5 set match, it dont get much better then that!
