Stargate, the entire series...

My hubby keeps telling me he's seen a commercial advertising the entire set of ALL the seasons from beginning to end of the series, Stargate. But they never give ordering info, price or anything. He is thinking maybe it's not available yet. Does anyone here have any knowledge of this? It would make a great Christmas present for him, is what I am thinking. I appreciate any into you have on this one.

I did not check to see if I answered this before or not, so if it is redundant - my apologies. the entire set is on dvd you can rent it from netflix probably or purchase it at various outlets. my son paid $235 for the set on ebay - which was about the going rate for all sellers... sadly the set he got was bootlegged - but he was reimbursed for the purchase price.

How could he tell it was bootlegged and how did he get his money back? Isn't that hard to prove? I haven't had that to deal with just yet. I did have a scammer get me for around $8 or $10 bucks at Christmas, I ordered Armageddon with Bruce Willis as a gift for my hubby, he really likes that movie, but it never came, never came. Then I noticed that people were starting to leave negative feedback b/c they too had not rec'd their merchandise, so I filed a complaint with ebay and they reimbursed me the money I paid them and they cancelled thier account. Why do people try to do this, ebay has strict rules for scammers. I always buy USA b/c I live in USA & always check feedback comments and ratings. I also got burned once on a set of controls for a flight simulator, the guy sold me a set that didn't work, was so outdated that none of the newer computers would be able to make it useful, and I got took for over $70, filed a complaint but had to eat that money.

I believe that if the disc is bootlegged, the disc doesn't have a picture on it and it looks like a general cd-r, or cd-rw. Not only that but in a lot of cases if you compare a bootlegged case to a real case, there are some noticable differences. Basically. Just by looking at the case & cds you can usually tell of it's bootleggedness. Well, not only that but when you watch it, bootlegged generally means someone ripped it off. So they could be in a theatre, watching it on tv, etc & be recording it with a camera in hand. You can usually tell by the quality of it that it's bootlegged. Not to mention that the "special features" will probably not be there. Such as let's say you put it in, and it starts playing the show & you didn't get any kind of selection menu or anything to choose between the special features n' whatnot or actually watching the movie. Hope this helps!

I searched around and found it on amazon.com. The boxed set with all the seasons is $270. Really not a bad price when I saw each season selling for about $35 for just one season. It was a good show - I miss that it's not on anymore. I think a movie is supposed to be coming out to tie up some of those loose ends they left us hanging with at the end of the *last* show. Hope this info helps!

we watched the entire series on dvd and enjoyed it but felt it lost somehting after Jack and Col Hammond left the show - I think it was time fo rit to end... then we started renting the atlantis series from netflix and really enjoyed it, but season four is still not available there, we are anxious to see more.

I felt the same way after Jack and Hammond left the show I lost interest in it. My hubby really likes the Stargate Atlantis though, I haven't taken time to get into it yet myself. I am considering a trial of Netflix, my kids use it and they love being able to rent the series of things. We don't get all the good series that have been out there, we have directv so we don't get much local but NBC and the other networks have some good shows too, and i'm not much for watching on my pc.

I always go to http://half.com for things I want to buy. There are people there who sell brand new stuff for really cheap, or those who watch or read something once and sell it "like new". You can find good bargains there. There is a collection there for $244.
