Were you married when you had your first child?

Is it frowned about to have children out of wedlock? I live in the U.S. where it is becoming more and more common. I myself have no kids yet.

Two of my brothers and I were born out of wedlock, no one looks down upon us except for some Christian people we know, they say we're going to hell because my parents weren't married when we were conceived. It's great to hear that!

I think I am a traditional person. I don't feel comfortable to have child then get married. To me it should be getting married at first and then having a child. I was pregnant after I was married for a month.

I had my child after I got married. In my age, it would not be considered a good thing to have a kid before getting married in my time though some people had their child first before getting married in China.

I was married when I had my kids but in the US there are loads of single parents and I don't think it is frowned upon here that much. Some may feel a child needs a traditional family and maybe that is ideal. But every family is a family whether it is traditional or not. I think here, it's pretty much commonplace. It wasn't when my older sister found out she was pregnant years ago. She was rushed into marriage and was so NOT ready. The marriage was awful but she adored her son who is now in his 30's. She still regrets marrying the guy though since he physically and emotionally abused her.
