experience some phenomea wihout your willingness

I have come across an incident that was while I stayed in a women hostel. I was a working women at that time. I share a room with four members. It happen one member of our room vacated. So I opted for her bed in the same room. Every one wanted that bed but they left me use it. The first night when I slept there I was struggling for breath as if some one is strangled my thorat. I could not able to shout or do anything. But I can't see anyone there but as if someone climb over me and strangling me. I was fighting with air. Suddenly it left. Then I wake the next girl in the bed still shivering. She gave me a cross that cross I kept near my heart and pass the remaining night. After that night I did not feel the same experience eventhough I use the same bed. Have anyone experience like this. Can anyone explain how it is happened.
