I am concerned about our bonsai plant. I have had a few bonsai plants in SA, but this is my first in Canada. I received Bob, the Bonsai, for Christmas 06. He is really growing and sprouting new branches quite steadily, but all of a sudden his bark is getting a white texture on it. Is this moss, or due to the change in weather? Bob has always been located on our bedroom TV, which is under a north facing window. We water Bob every morning and night leaving a light coat of water on his leaves. Once a month I add Schultz Liquid Plant Food - Original Multi-Purpose Formula to the water spray (which lasts for a week of watering). What do I need to do, if anything to fix this problem? Besides this question, I would also like to know when is the best time to re-pot, as I'd like to put Bob into a more decorative pot instead of the plastic pot that he came in. Thanks for the help. d&r.

Firstly what kind of Bonsai is Bob? Possibly you may be watering Bob to much, depending on the weather i tend to check the soil and see how damp it is.If it is damp i tend not to water mine untill the soil has dried off a little otherwise root rot could set in. To answer your second question mid winter is the best time i've been told and experienced to re-pot. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for your response. I was beginning to think that I was over watering Bob. So from now on I'll water if the soil is not too damp. I'll try re-potting Bob in December or January, if that is what you think is best.
