Do you wish that we lived in a society where everything was open 24/7?

There were times when I felt this way too when I worked on 3rd shift. But I don't wish it because it just means more people working on a shift that we are just not meant to work on. Humans are animals meant to sleep at night not during the day and it really takes a toll on us. Or most of us anyway. There are some who can thrive on working nights.

Although at times, I feel as though it would be very convenient to have 24 hour shopping, I have to realise the cost to society.
Peoples wages would go right up if they worked the night shift, & this is time would meaner higher costs for products for us.
Plus, I think it is very stressful for people working night shift.

I am fortunate enought to live 5 minutes from a Wal-Mart Supercenter which is open 24 hours and has just abouth everything you would ever need. I have some insomnia issues and on more thn one occassion I have found myself wandering the aisles in the wee hours of the morning shopping for nothing in particular.

It would certainly be nice to have banks open longer. I hate that I can't go to the bank any day aside from Friday's because they don't work around 9-5 worker schedules...and I actually work 8-4! ugh!
do you live in the middle of nowhere? Cause where I live Fast Food, a few restaurants and Gas Stations are the only things open 24 hours.

Hi Gwen,
Well, I used to work midnights too, but at a convenient store where they sold gas. LOL But it was a pain when I had to do something at a place that was only open the "normal" 8am to 5pm hours. Like the post office or paying a particular bill. I could have used drop boxes, but I just feel better knowing they got my money and it wasnt stuck in the crevice of their drop box. Happened to me on a couple of occasions.
I do think more fast food places should be open at that time, but I can see where its not productive to do so. Especially in a town that might be smaller and they would probably spend more staying open than they did in bringing in revenue. Seems like most larger cities do have 24hour McDonalds or Gas Marts.
I can see the need for people working this shift, but it really all boils down to supply and demand. The demand isnt so great!

Oh yes sure I do. But we do have a place that opens 24 hrs. I don't go there often, but I remember they have pharmacy and households. Maybe in winter they don't open that long.
