We often complain our governments. I am quite disappointed with the Bush Administration. For those of you who are American, who is the most ideal president and why? Who is your ideal candidate for the 2008 election? For a more open ended question, what is your version of an ideal government? Something tangible and possible please. Under this government, what would its position be on... -Big or small government? -Social/Government aid? -Tax cuts? -Immigration stance? -Heath care? -Education? -Marriage?

Who is the most ideal president? It was JFK.He was rich enough that he didn't have to bow to special interests and he was smart. Which means he was free to really govern and smart enough to really think before he acted. And with Bobby as his attorney general, he had a great sounding board. He would have brought the troops home from Vietnam and with Bobby's influence, the civil rights movement would have made strides a little faster. I think these are two of many reasons They had to kill him. My I deal government would have a strong federal government so if a person moves to another state , he/she doesn't loose or gain certain rights. There should be a federal/local government aid. I mean the money comes from a federal fund, but it is the local government that passes out the money. There should be tax stability.I mean there should be a rate for the poor which is small or even no taxes, a rate for the middle class that isn't too high or too low. and a higher rate for the rich and super rich. And when the rate is found, it stays at that rate. The only way your tax rate is cut is if you lose a lot of money and you standing changes.Immigration? Simple but it may be unpopular. If you have been here 6 months straight and you are not in trouble with the law, you get to stay and you are eligible for a full citizenship when you go through the standard procedure. There would be a universal healthcare program.People that already have insurance would have the choice to either stay with their currant company or enroll in the universal program. With Education, the "no kid left behind" would cease. In stead there would be more freedom for the teachers and principals to teach the kids there own way at the kids pace. There would be a list of things a child should know at each grade. But it would be up to each school how they would teach and test the lessons.and instead of linking money for the to a test the kids take, it should be linked to where the most of the money is needed to help. In other words if a school in a poor neighborhood needs a new roof, it would get the money. The only main test taken will be a test that middle school kids take to see what they have learned and what they need help on before they start high school. They take it in September before 8th grade. And when the results are known, the kids go to the class that will help them succeed. And for marriage, it would be legal for any justice of the peace in All 50 states to marry Any two people who are of age.In other words, gay marriage would be legal.

I am with sororavn on this one. Take all the politicians out and throw them to the wolves. All they have been doing is making matters worse and blowing smoke up into our tender regions. Society has become so confused on morals in the last couple of decades, that in california the average time someone spends in jail, for one of our most heinous crimes(murder in the first degree) is only seven years. The U.S. Has more people in jail than ALL of the rest of the world combined. We have more people in prison than most small nations have in total populations. If we were to re-evaluate what a crime is that could be resolved in a matter of a few years. Or if we were to use those inmates in a situation where it would better serve those of us law abiding citizens. I was talking to a guy in Dallas TX a couple of years ago who intentionally goes out and gets arrested. We taxpayers gave him a better life IN prison than he ever had on the outside. Sorry about the rant J
