If food is instant and preserved, nutrients are not as good as to fresh food. So, I prepare simple food, like vegetables in different preparations, different menus from eggs, fish, and with fruits, especially bananas because supply is abundant in our area. We don't eat meat everyday, just 3 x a week. Don't forget your fruit juices and drink plenty of water for a day's consumption. Our body is part of nature, so it is fragile to unwanted chemicals that entered into it.

Apple Squares - Even my deserts I try to use natural ingredients such as apples, oats & flour.
I try to cook as many meals as possible that are healthy & do not use prepared packages, sauces, etc. For instance, for tea I might grill meat or chicken. I would do potatoes & other vegetables that are boiled or microwaved to go with it, or I may do a salad. If I want a sauce on it, I make my own using a natural stock cube & arrowroot flour. For lunch, I often make homemade soup, or a sandwich using wholegrain bread.

I grow my own veg which we eat raw, steamed and stirfried. I juice fruit and veg, and eat wholegrain foods rather than bleached out over processed ones.

I make a lot of salads. In fact, most of the days, we have a meat dish, and a salad. My husband does not like whole grain products, unless it is light rye bread, so I find it difficult to make a healthy main dish. I have just discovered some pasta that looks white but has added fiber, but I would rather have the whole grain kind. I eat dark rye bread, I use a lot of vegetables, and fruit, but unless he agrees to eat the brown rice, and the whole wheat pasta, there is nothing I can do other than make lots of salads. Oh we both drink milk, but we use margarine not butter.

The closest thing to a healthy food that I can prepare is microwaveable rice.

My husband and I cook almost everything from scratch. The ingredients we buy are all organic, natural and local - so we know they are fresh and free from pesticides and fungicides and petroleum based fertilizers.

I wonder how healthy can those instant food be. Most of them are ladened with preservatives and even though they claim not to have that, how do they keep them edible after such a long time in the packets. But then, preparation is easy and in today's world, we want things quick and easy. Anyway, we still do have a choice and it is up to us. Cheers!
