A man and his 9 year old son fell asleep watching tv. The house caught on fire. Their pet parrot, started imitating the sound of the fire alarm, which woke them up and they were able to get out of the house safely! Way to go!

It just blows my mind how many lives have been saved by peoples' pets. That also includes my own as my little dogs barked so much that after two days of not stop barking my neighbors investigated and found me unconscious. I slipped on the kitchen floor, broke my back and if it had not been for my dogs I would not be here today.

Ya I actually heard this on the news the other day and was surprised. The only thing thats weird about the whole story is no one in the family heard the smoke alarms but they heard the parrot imitating the sound weird. When our smoke alarms go off my pit bull runs around the house barking at everyone till the sounds stops so maybe someday she will save me to!lol

Wow. That's one awesome story! A lot of people don't give animals credit when credit is due until they prove themselves and boy this bird is some kind of something! I hope the owners will give that bird some treats and special dinners for the rest of his life. Thanks for sharing the story!
