Thoughts on ECW and Smackdown and where do you think it will go?

I'm not sure how many are aware of this but it seems that the ECW and Smackdown brands have been pretty much unofficially but officially merged together. Do you think it will actually lead to some interesting match ups and could this be the way of actually replacing the Cruiserweight Title with the ECW Championship? I actually believe that is what is going to happen personally because notice how it hasn't been mentioned. After Hornswoggle pretty much vacated the belt and it disappeared, no mention of it has come since. Maybe the belt is being retired. I can't say it's not surprising consider the fact that the Cruiserweight Title hasn't really done anything lately and I'm not really bashing them. I'm just being straight up about it. I think that maybe the ECW Brand is going to be gone off TV and then turned into an internet show. Only reason I think that is because it's been reported on the Wrestling Observer or something like that since it started with 2.0+ in the ratings, it's really taken a huge hit and has decreased and it's possible that it might not be on Sci Fi or any network at all. What do you all make of something like this? I think it could work out and the ECW brand needed a boost since it gets tiresome and I might actually try watching it for the 1st time in many months. Thoughts?

It is a smart move to have cross overs between ECW and Smackdown, but, the truth of the matter is that, ECW was bound to fail as soon as Vince MacMahon removed the hardcore from the show. He wanted to gain ECW fans without giving them what they came to the shows for. Removing Paul Heyman from the product he created didn't help the issue either. Paul knew what it took to make ECW go over with the fans. They didn't want to watch a watered down verison of Smackdown. They wanted blood, tables, barbwire and anything else they could bring to the ring. Paul loved EC-Dub and it's fans and would have gave them what they wanted to see, not what Vince feels what the crowd should want. I think the last thing that'sgoing to kill ECW is Vince making it his training ground for RAW and Smackdown. The guys we watch are the same ones week in and week out. Sorry, but I don't think Miz and Elijah Burke are ever going to be more than what they are. Being pushed as the 2 top heals in the show, just makes the show less than 3 rate. There are better shows on, TNA included. 7

I thought that was the plan as of late with that brand but I see what you mean. I agree with yours and thanks for responding. I do believe it will be off TV at some point or another since networks or some I should say care about ratings and this show hasn't done that.

I think that this the beginning of the end for ecw I think this if the first step on completley scraping that brand. But I like the idea because we can see more and new feuds with ecw and smackdown. What would be totally awsome is seeing an cm punk vs mvp feud someday that would be an awsome to feud. Or an miz and matt hardy feud which is what I would like to see.

I think those feuds will happen at one point. I do agree it probably is the beginning of the end of ECW on TV. The idea could work actually if done correctly and not made to look foolish.
