It takes me 15-20 mins before falling asleep.. Actually I go to bed only when I feeling sleepy.. So, it dosen't take much time for me to get the sleep coming.. I think u shud also go this way.. Go to bed only when u r feeling sleepy.. Wasting 1-3 hrs to get sleep is silly.. And by the way, what do u engage in those 1-3 hrs???

hi... well, i find it hard to sleep initialize...as you see, i had insomnia problem for two years and it's just this year's april that i was able to sleep well and back to normal habits... so i watch tv, read book and simply laze around...coz even though i am very very sleepy, i cant simply go to sleep before. this is way better than it was before... im grateful that i can sleep now... im happy that it takes you a very short time, that is really a blessing:-D good day

WOAH!!! It took you THAT long to fall asleep? What do you do then while trying to sleep? Think? Daydream? Usually it takes me only a few minutes to be able to sleep. I'd say most of the time it takes around 10-30 minutes. If I get SUPER tired, then in 5 minutes I'm out. I'm a SLEEPYHEAD ha ha ha ha ha... However, once in a blue moon it's hard for me to sleep, esp. if I have so many things in my head to think about or if I drink too much coffee...then it'll take me HOURS to get to sleep.

hi.. thanks for responding... yes, yes, that long... well, i try to block out thoughts... especially when i am staying up until the wee hours of the morning.. once i get over 2am.. it would be very difficut to go to sleep that is why i try to cut it to midnight or close to 1 am coz my body revs up and prepare to go on without sleep... hehe..i had been experience severe insomnia for 2 years and only went back to normal sleeping habits just this april, thank God.. so i can survive a very hectic day without sleep or without much hours... even my friends and family were concered... but i am ok now...

hehe..yup, they were...my friends would tease me in our native language "ang babeng di tumutulog" which means in english "the girl who doesnt sleep at all"... but i love sleep now... but my problem is always sleep initiation... but once i go to sleep, i can wake up several times in between and in even prolong periods to do something and get back to it without any problem...hehehe... i think i am catching up on all that i missed... nothing like a goodnight's rest to refresh me... what makes you sleep very easily?

My husband always envies me that I could take only five minutes to fall asleep. So I believe I am the type of person that could go to sleep very fast. There is only one thing that always makes me difficult to fall asleep. Totally not because of taking tea or coffee before I am going to bed. Yup, excitement always causes me difficult to go to sleep. This sometimes takes me few hours to fall asleep. So I always ask my hubby and my son not to tell me any excited stories before I am going to bed.

Hi shiloh, It usually takes me about as long to fall asleep as it does you. On average I would say about one to two hours is the longest it would take for me to fall asleep! PurpleTeddyBear.

When I go to bed usually my mind decides to wander and I think about things. If I have a lot on my mind at night is usually when my brain decides to start to think about it. It's getting better though thank goodness. PurpleTeddyBear.

hi feona... it's your body's way of coping up with the hours that it missed sleeping... i heard or read somewhere that it takes notes of the hours we missed and it takes several days to recover from one sleepless night... we need to sleep atleast 6-8 hours though i could barely clock that in... when it's work week, it's just 4-6 hours for me... i cant sleep 12 hours straight.. i'll get a headache... how about you?

weell, it depends. there are times when i am already so sleepy that i don't notice when i pass out. i mean, when i lie down, i immediately drift to slumberland. but when i am not sleepy and i just force myself to sleep, i end up tossing and turning for i don't know how many minutes till i lose consciousness. or sometimes, i just get up and work instead because i couldn't sleep. but there are also times when i am so tired and i can't go to sleep either. i get to fidgety. my husband would tell me to relax, take deep breaths and to imagine myself flying. that helps me to sleep. :-) but you know, that takes a while for you. have you seen a doctor for your insomnia?

Child sleeping - Child sleeping soundly.
My wife says within 5 minutes I am out like a lightbulb and snoring like a freight train... I don't have any problem when I am ready to sleep falling asleep. I do have a problem getting to the point where I feel sleepy.

it depends on how wound up from the day i was. some days it takes me a couple of hours, others, it only takes me mere minutes. i dont sleep well as a rule and generally the next night after a poor nights sleep is when i have a better one.

hi thanks for responding... yeah, we have the same situation... sometimes, i fall asleep really fast, there are times when i'll have an insomnia attacks... but most of the times when i would fall asleep, generally, i would a good night' sleep... it's only sleep initiation... i try breathing deeply for a few minutes to relax my mind and body... most of the times, it works... also drinking chamomile-lavender tea helps alot. milk for me is not that effective...how about u?

Oh boy!!! I can't even remember that, because I've forgotten how to fall asleep. Haha...! True, I just stay awake all night and now I don't even sleep before 3:00a.m. in the morning. But I fall asleep very easily in the afternoons. But even in the afternoon I can't sleep more than 20 minutes.

It actually varies, to be honest. At times, I could easily catch sleep, especially when I'm extremely tired. When sleep is elusive, though, it takes me about 30 minutes to a couple of hours before I finally visit Hogwarts. lol... Have a sound sleep and Happy myLotting, shiloh! ;)

Oh it takes me awhile to fall asleep every night. I have to read for about an hour before I fall asleep and then sometimes I sleep with my bedside lamp on. If I turn it off just before I fall asleep I end up getting another spurt of energy and can't fall asleep. So now I just leave the lamp on and let myself fall asleep. I am not a very good sleeper and I wake up several times during the night and I have to read again till I fall asleep again. This goes on all night long for me so I don't get a really good rest.

Beats me since I never fall assleep on my back. But I usally have a hard time sleeping and it dosnt matter what position I am. It takes anywhere between 1 to 4 hours inorder for me to fall assleep. Probally the biggest reason is I have a lot on my mind every night and that is a big factor of why I cant fall asleep plus the weather if its to hot then I cant sleep.
