In the Philippines, corruption is very rampant and blatant. It is almost considered as part of our culture and this just saddens me... I hope someday I could make a change...

I have been feeling down since yesterday when I saw that PGMA gave Erap full pardon. It was devastating and another blow to our country. We seem to be sinking more and more into hopelessness and frankly, I'm at the point where I don't want to care anymore. Just this evening, when I was watching the news and they were showing Erap's super-confident speech in San Juan, (so much bulls*it!!!) my blood started boiling and I had to turn off the TV before expletives come out of my mouth and frighten my kids. I can't help but ask, "Oh Lord, what's next?"

Of course, anyone will felt hopeless if their country is full of corrupt people and selfish people. I don't want to trust our government anymore, i hate them all. And i really have a positive taught that malacanang had something to do with the bombing at Glorietta. And they keep on denying it. Well it is bad to have an accusation but for me it is very obvious because their main goal is to shift the attention to other things than of Payola Scandal. I hate it.I hate them.

If corruption is part of the culture, it is very difficult to change it, because it usually comes from the top. If you pass a red light and caught by police, the first move you make, for example, it Turkey or Russia, is give a bribe. Every policeman is already expecting that. If you try the same in, for example, USA or Israel, you will get to the prison cell immediately. So, if I would be a president of Philippines, for example, I would strat cleaning the top officials. To break the cultural habits, you need to impose fear that any unlawful action might be prosecuted. It will go down as waterfall to lower levels as well. And one more important thing - you need to pay those who are expecially subjects of bribes (policemen, officials, teachers, etc.) the descent pay, for them will be more profitable to be honest, that to get 1-2-3 bribes and get fired or even imprisoned. Untill, living with corruption will be in blood of the kids, the only weapon is fear of the Law.
