A Cat and A Dog

It's pretty normal. A lot of the time when a cat and dog fight, I would say it normally boils down to a territorial + instinctual problem between the two. Instinctual as a part of the two being different species. Territorial of course being obvious which is why cats fight other cats and dogs get into fights with other dogs sometimes as well. Obviously, as with a lot of cats and dogs, neither is a issue between the cat and your dog. Likely, they got used to each other a good time before your dog had her puppies. I'd just say make sure the cat isn't bringing fleas in with it when it lies next to the puppies.

Yes, it's normal and it's good. ;-D I've seen my aunt with her two dogs and two cats getting along pretty well. A British friend of mine also has a dog and 4 cats and they're getting along pretty well. The dog is VERY motherly to the cats. ;-D

Hi dionb.Haha,yes totally!My dog has 2 friends haha.We have 2 cats and my dog loves them,shes always greeting them and they greet her,play together,sleep together(1 its missy the cat)and tease eachother.My dog absolutely adores cats,any cat even strays.She will try to go see them and want to play with them.Of course most of them are scared and run away,but the others sense she will not harm them and come see her.Hahah this morning 1 of our cats missy the youngest grabbed the dog around the kneck like in wrestling and was kicking her with her hind legs,the dog just sat there and then became fed up and chased each other through the house.Our dog was 2 months old when we introduced her to our old kitty tiger and she grew up with her and then our other cat which we got one year after the dog.Sometimes i think our dog thinks its a cat.:)Maybe your dog is showing mother instincts towards the cat and it knows the cat will not harm her puppies and maybe the cats mothering instincts came out too by sleeping with all of them.
