Split ends in hair

Many people have the problem of their hair getting spoilt due to split ends.They wonder as to why this is happening to them and the reason can be because of the protective cuticle being worn on the tip of a strand ,allowing the fibres of the cortex to unravel and the hair to split length wise.The only cure for this problem is trimming according to most of the tricologists.
